Re: Loud thumping background noise when on a call
I do hear thumping noise as soon as I open the line and Dial **** or 110#. Okay, then the problem is completely unrelated to Freephoneline and has nothing to do with packet loss. You're hearing the problem when listening to the ATA's Interactive Voice Response (IVR) menu. The problem lies somewhere...

Re: Loud thumping background noise when on a call
By the way, you can test calls here: http://thetestcall.blogspot.com/. Use the 416 or 250 numbers.
That is, dial 416-342-9562. Press #. Then you can try options 1 to 9. Options 1, 3, and 4 might be useful.

Re: Loud thumping background noise when on a call
As soon as I open the line I get a normal long toned dialing sound and the line works, but few seconds after the long toned changes into a short pulsating sound like the line is busy. If you don't dial anything, it's normal to eventually hear a "busy" tone. I'm not sure that what you're n...

Re: Loud thumping background noise when on a call
The background noise starts as soon as a open the line So, the noise occurs before dialing? Then you may want to try moving the ATA to a different location if the problem is due to electromagnetic interference from other devices in the vicinity. Also try a different phone and cable. Avoid fake PAP2...

Re: Freephoneline Desktop Application will be discontinued on June 3, 2025
Is that not illegal to simply make World Credits vanish. Given the dormancy policy for World Credits is published (https://support.freephoneline.ca/hc/articles/212430186-About-World-Credits) and that there's over a year of advanced notice, I'm doubtful. However, in my opinion, people should be emai...

Re: Please reinstall the latest release of the app and try again
Fongo World Edition and Fongo Mobile are separate apps and use separate accounts. Fongo Mobile is found in Canadian app stores, while Fongo World Edition is found in app stores outside of Canada. Consequently, you need to ensure you're installing the correct application. Additionally, if you have d...

Fongo Home Phone pricing changes to $5.95+tax per month or $59.40+tax per annum starting July 9, 2024
For the first time in over a decade, Fongo Home Phone's service price will be adjusted. The new price is $5.95 + tax per month starting July 9, 2024. However, you can you choose to pay $59.40 + tax annually instead ($59.40+tax divided by 12 months is the previous rate of $4.95+tax/month). Emails are...

Re: Freephoneline Desktop Application will be discontinued on June 3, 2025
This is certainly a move. I would be interested in how many people still use the desktop app. Well, I was using it to test or troubleshoot VoIP unlock key accounts sometimes, so I would prefer that the application not be discontinued, at least, for paid users. I can understand the change for unpaid...

Re: Switching ATA devices with Freephoneline
By the way, the OBi2xx and OBi3xx ATA series are now discontinued. The replacement is the Poly 4xx ATA series, which doesn't support consumer Google Voice. One difference is Poly 4xx supports the G.722 audio codec, but Freephoneline doesn't anyway. Poly owns Obihai, and HP owns Poly. https://www.hp....

Re: Switching ATA devices with Freephoneline
I wanted to switch my ATA device from the HT-802 to the Obi200. Just wondering how I would go about doing that. 1) Unplug the HT-802, and don't use it. When there are multiple devices/softphones/SPs (on an ATA/IP Phone) using the same FPL account, only the most recent registration is valid. The pre...

Re: Fongo invoice
In my opinion, no. All paid residential customers will be getting monthly invoices. I would be more inclined to submit a ticket if my bill isn't $0 and/or if I needed clarification for something that was stated on the bill, instead of clogging up the ticket support queue, but the choice is yours. In...

Well, I guess, on the other hand, keeping accounts active must cost them money somehow, but as a customer, I definitely don't like this sudden twist.
Anyway, I made outbound calls on all of my accounts today.

I was also quite shocked when I got the email even though this is a number that I really haven't used in years. Yes, I would have been stunned and then angry in all honesty. If they do actually start deleting the accounts, then I hope they also refund what people paid for the config files/unlock ke...
