The thread is 4 years old now, so I think the OP has probably figured it out and/or moved on.
But the Fongo app is not the same as the Freephoneline app/an Android SIP client. They're different services.

Re: email from Fongo to upgrade
Thanks for addressing the recent email campaign, lipton. I don't recall previous ones saying this outright, though: "The FreePhoneLine platform is no longer updated" My understanding was that the FPL and Fongo backends were the same and kept in sync. Is that not the case? Thanks again and ...

Re: Fax support on FPL?
Wow, this went a lot more smoothly than expected! Our HT701 is now hooked into a USB fax modem like this one: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/56K-USB-V-90-V-92-External-Dial-Up-Voice-Fax-Data-Modem-Win-XP-VISTA-7-32-64-Bit/184400889970?hash=item2aef264872:g:JdAAAOSwezVWzbTt. Re: Fax support on FPL?
Thanks as always! I'll take the plunge and check out a USB fax modem soon.
If I set up our main line as a fax, is there a way to continue to have the option to make calls on the line or can it only be one or the other?

Re: Fax support on FPL?
Happy New Year, all!
Sorry to bump an earlier thread, but am starting to look into this setup more earnestly. Any suggestions for USB fax modems? They seem to be readily available but want to make sure I get something that's compatible. Thanks in advance!

Fax support on FPL?
Hi all, hope everyone's keeping safe and well during these strange times. Lately, have had more of a need to send faxes instead of using physical mail to avoid surface contact, unnecessary trips, etc. Was wondering if faxing could technically work on FPL (last I read it wasn't officially supported, ...

Several dropped calls
I'm getting a few dropped calls today. They are all incoming calls. Haven't tried outgoing yet. Anyone seeing similar issues? I'm using the voip4 server and my HT-701 is on the latest firmware. No network topology changes; the ATA is connected to a ddwrt router which hangs off of a standalone cable ...

Re: Incoming calls go straight to voice mail
No issues with voip4 here! It's set up to get around faulty SIP ALG routing. If it works for you, I say use it.

Low bandwidth codec for FPL?
Hi, Later this year, my family and I are moving from Ontario to NL. Unfortunately, the only internet option we can procure initially is Teksavvy's 7 mbps down/0.64 mbps up basic DSL. For day to day usage, this is fine, but I'm concerned with it affecting the reliability of our FPL setup. I have us c...

No support for Free Phone Line email
So I received the following email: fpl-email.png It was a bit concerning to me, so just to be clear: you (Fongo) are just letting us know that FPL is not supported? It's not that FPL is going to disappear? You recommend Fongo Home Phone but for all intents and purposes, FPL will continue to be offer...

Re: Don't live in the free cities to call. Pay per call?
Nope, not to worry. VoIP doesn't work like a traditional line or cell service. So you could use Fongo services in Europe and still make calls to free calling areas of Canada for free. So long as you have some connectivity (WiFi/Data for mobile, ethernet for Fongo Home Phone/FPL), you're good.

Re: How to Connect a Real Corded Phone to freephoneline.ca
No, you wouldn't need a Fongo subscription to use Freephoneline. They're both fundamentally the same service, with one major difference: * Fongo Home Phone has a monthly subscription and they provide official support * Freephoneline does not have a monthly subscription (just one time fees: SIP unloc...

Re: Will it work?
Yes, I stated that earlier: The app itself works no matter where you are, so long as you have WiFi or data on the device. Unlike a traditional voice plan, Fongo doesn't use minutes; per-call, it'll sip internet bandwidth (WiFi) or mobile data, depending on how you're connected. You can now call any ...

Re: Will it work?
You've hit upon the key difference: Skype is a walled garden, so you either call other Skype users for free or pay a bit extra to call a number -- all numbers would require some type of payment. Someone could call you on Skype, but they'd have to use Skype. With Fongo, you have a Canadian number tha...

You're talking about the Fongo Mobile app, I presume? The app itself works no matter where you are, so long as you have WiFi or data on the device. Re: FPL with HT-701 (Firmware 1.0.8.2)
So far so good. SIP OPTIONS Keep Alive Interval seems to have changed to a default of 30, whereas my guide calls out 20. That's the only difference I've noticed so far. Will monitor a little more before updating the guide.

Re: BlackBerry 10 support plans?
Thanks for your reply! What you say makes sense and I understand Fongo's an Android app that plays well with the Android emulator on BB10. Hoping it'll continue to do so, but given the way BB10 is going and that Fongo doesn't list it on their site any more, I'll treat it as an "enjoy while it l...

I see that 1.0.10.3 was released for the 701 and 702 on May 29th (http://firmware.grandstream.com/Release_Note_HT70x_1.0.10.3.pdf). I upgraded my ATA and so far things seem to be working fine with the config I used for 1.0.8.2. I will see how my ATA does over the next few days and report back/update...

BlackBerry 10 support plans?
Looks like the BB10 app store is going to be shut down at the end of 2019. Given that the Fongo app on BB is Android-based, is it fairly safe to say it'll continue to work into 2020? What are Fongo's plans around future BB10 support?

Thanks for your reply. I opened a case w/ Fongo support, they made a minor adjustment on my account, and now the hide caller ID function is working properly.
