I want to try out asterisk, but need a SIP provider. Can I use fongo/freephoneline/et al for this?
Or, if not, a similar free service, just to test out? Just trying to learn Asterisk, but need something to learn on.

Re: Grandstream HT-286
I got my Grandstream HT-286 plugged into DYNEX hub, and after dialing *** I was getting an error message or all zeroes for an IP number. Plugging the ATA directly into the Linksys router seemed to solve the problem. Strange considering that all my other computers, printers and network drives don't ...

Re: Wine (Linux "emulator" for Windows)
Anyone have success with running the softphone GUI client from Wine? I tried but could not get it running properly. I ended up with a VirtualBox installed with windows, so I ran it under that instead. Wine has been very hit and miss with me, and to be honest a lot of the time I don't even bother as...

mp3 would be a pretty big file to compress and send automatically for all of the users who use vm to email... We use .au which is compatible with Quicktime as far as I know.. But if you're saying it's not that you would be the correct one here. Have you tried downloading FLV player? It's a similar ...

Re: linux pc client
Anyone who has SIP settings could essentially use a third-party linux SIP application. I'm sure there has to be some out there? I'm not a linux guy though, so I don't know off-hand How/where can I get SIP settings? Our SIP settings for accounts are sold for a one-time charge of $50. This is what we...

Re: Budweiser on Android...?
here it is:
http://www.budphone.ca/faq#smartphone
however, it's only two part dialing...not a real VoIP option
why not make a full fledged client? The GUI is there already, presumably...the changes would be quite minor, I expect.

dial to access voicemail
What would be the cost to implement the capability of dialing from a standard landline to access (listen to) voicemails? This would be particularly useful if no pc, or internet access, is handy.

You mean the voicemail will also automatically pickup faxes too?? Nice!! All FPL needs now is an OUTGOING FAX SERVER... Sending outgoing faxes directly to a fax machine ....e.g. 14161234567@FPLfax.ca !!! would this work by upload via browser, or through an ATA? My preference: web interface. -Thufir
