Re: Can someone just tell me which QoS router is cheapest?
I use pfSense on an embedded device. I built the whole thing for under $100 and it's very powerful. Because it's not limited to small amounts of RAM like a small router, it can do a lot more things at one time. I use it for NAT (obviously), QoS, OpenVPN, IPSec VPN, Captive Portal (just to mess with ...

Re: FONGO Voicemail - disappointed
Easy to reproduce... 1. Unplug your device that connects you to the I'net (router/modem) 2. Call your number, you should get dead air/busy/re-order Now, the why. Because your Internet connection died, the app/ATA did not un-register with the SIP Registrar. Because the Registrar thinks you are regist...

Don't forward port 5060 from your router to your ATA.

Re: why was fongo down last night around 3am?
As for the 2.5 hours, I really have not seen too many other complaints about that timeframe from other users, so perhaps the outtage was not widespread, and may have been DNS related or locallized rather than a network issue? Unless you sit and stare at your ATA, or try and use your phone during th...

Re: why was fongo down last night around 3am?
Hate to burst your bubble, but 2.5 hrs of outage is not a small cut or blister in the telecom wold, that's some major down time. A few seconds to a minute of down time is a small cut or blister. Achieving "5 9's" of uptime with a 2 1/2 hour outage just isn't possible. It wouldn't cut it fo...

Re: why was fongo down last night around 3am?
The logical question to ask is, were you able to go to any other site at the time of the outage? That will give you a good starting clue s to whether it is your connection, or FPL.

Re: Feature comparison: Vonage vs FPL
Don't think thats possible based on these discussions so far. No, that is not possible with FPL at this time. Voip.ms does this. If your account is not registered you can have an alternate destination, such as a cell. Not something FPL does as they can't ensure they get their connect fee this way. ...

Re: Audio Configuration
No it's not possible to program ringing/headset/mic with a Java based program. If you want to have ring sent to speakers and voice sent to a second sound card (USB headset/BT headset) you will need to buy the SIP unlock and use a pc softphone such as Eye Beam. I use the old version 3 of Eye Beam as ...

Re: Number transfer and VoIP unlock key purchase questions
First question: Whats the process to transfer existing phone number over to freephoneline? My current service is with Vonage. Who do I contact first (Vonage or freephoneline) and do I need to cancel the Vonage service myself? DO NOT CONTACT VONAGE! They will screw it up for you. Contact FPL and hav...

Re: beep heard at intervals on receiving side only
Just checked the config thread. I see it says to set the preferred codec as G729. Do not use Inband if you are using G729, it won't work well at all.

Re: beep heard at intervals on receiving side only
Just logged in to mine, DTMF Tx is under the Line settings. Options are AVT, Inband, INFO & Auto. I would try Inband and see if the issue goes away. Make sure after you change the option that you check that anything you normally use DTMF for (voicemail, telephone banking, auto attendants) still ...

Re: beep heard at intervals on receiving side only
WRT the beeping. It is common on the PAP2T for higher pitched voices (mainly women) to cause the ATA to trigger a DTMF tone. When you say "beeping", is the callee hearing what sounds like a digit being pressed on the keypad, or more like a beep to indicate the call is being recorded. Now, ...

Re: Phantom incoming calls not in call records
It could be that someone is sending SIP calls to anything@your-ip, which might ring your phones. Can you try and change the IP and see if you still get the calls? Jake and I are getting at the same thing. But generally you would see something like this when 5060 is opened to the I'net. It is possib...

Re: NAT / Router Registration issues.
You are double NAT'd, good luck with that. SIP has a hard enough time behind 1 NAT, but when double NAT'd things get exponentially worse.
Ohhh, and you should be using port 5060 for SIP.

My registration has failed at various points this morning (2:15, 3:25, 4:20, 4:45-5:00), and now has been down since 5:55 and is still down. I'm not getting a response to my SIP REGISTER packets.
I'm sure it'll be sorted out sooner or later.

Yeah, that happened to me the other day as well.
Message was left on the weekend. Received email notification. Wednesday night, received the exact same email with attachment. Strange. I just logged in to my voicemail and sure enough, there were 2 copies of the exact same voicemail. Strange.
