Re: Running FPL in linux
VoIP Unlock key as has been said, is definitely the best option. Something I haven't played around with yet, but intend to is Android x86 (their is an official x86 port of android, seems to run well in virtual machines, I don't suspect the overhead would outright kill call quality.) But adoption of ...

Follow-Me, HEY Stop Following me!
I recently received a new phone number to go with my new work location. Normally I would log in to my console and add this to my follow-me settings. Today however, it seems someone has this set-up on their account already. As it gives me no indicator of who owns this account, and to my knowledge doe...

0.0.0.0 is a non-routable IP address. It is basically the phone saying the ATA has not received an IP address on your network. Let's go with the basics first, Test a new Ethernet cord from your router/switch to your ATA. Ensure that DHCP is enabled over the wired LAN from one of your devices. The &q...

Cannot get inbound calls, & having registration issues
Hi, I'm trying to support an issue at my Grandmother's house, I'm fairly certain Bell is breaking their traffic. Settings don't seem to matter. I'd appreciate it if someone from Fongo support could check on the logs to see when the last few registration requests were seen. I just switched to voip2.f...

Oh hi Allison, I think I'm valid.
Last few weeks when I try to use one of my SIP devices or software with my FPL account I am greeted by Allison Smith saying "This account number is not valid." Of course, my account has been unlocked and working great for years. I continue to receive follow-me calls, but haven't noticed an...

Re: Grandstream GXP2200 IP Phone - any thoughts about it?
Depending on what kind of programs are built in I could see this being a really cool "command center" phone for the reception desk. (Theoretically unlimited touch/soft keys for parking lots, line extensions/forwarding, conferencing etc.) And yeah, with gigabit ports, why not have video? I ...

Re: Porting a number out of FPL
I understand hope you will come back. I think most of the case that the router causes the problem I have to agree with this assessment, I have been using FPL (now Fongo) as my primary phone service since 2008 and have never experienced any significant down-time that wasn't created by my own configu...

Do you use an ATA service or a Softphone service? Do you have a SIP unlock key?
Your options for blocking will differ based on your set-up.
I don't believe that FPL supports server side call filtering at this time, though I could be wrong. Try calling customer service.

With a little bit of quick windows script-fu you can sweep your entire home network without any additional programs. Just open up a command prompt (Start > Run > CMD) and then copy and paste this code: for /L %i in (1,1,255) do @ping -n 1 -w 25 192.168.1.%i | arp -a | findstr /R /C:"192.168.1.%...

This just in: (Okay maybe a week old now.) Most of the concerns about downgrading Java being a security threat are moot at this point as the most recent take-over/remote code execution threat affects all Java version from SE 5 through to the most recent version of 7. Which brings us to pre-Oracle ti...

Nothing intrinsically wrong with routers that can't use DD-WRT, mostly it comes down to the hardware and the programming of the firmware. DD-WRT is just a safe way out of a bad situation

In addition Bloodsong's points, I'd just like to confirm that Dell Voice customers can port in business numbers as Dell advertises the service for both home and SMB use. This is a little different from some of our residential brands where we usually are not able to port business lines due to the te...

Oh, if I had read a little further I would have seen "OpenWrt"
Try the user-agent setting in the trunk registration.
Seeing as you're on OpenWRT, updating the asterisk version isn't likely going to happen. (Just trying to think what might have changed to invalidate your settings.)

@dibsmft: Care to give us a run down of how the set-up works? I'm sure we have a few do-it-yourself-ers out here that might consider trying something similar. I will mention one advantage of a UPS is that the vast majority of them are not simple "dumb" back-ups but also provide protection ...

In-house wiring can be very susceptible to environmental factors as it ages. *nod* It could be the usenet file's fault, as you were probably receiving 2-6MB/s it would monopolize the sequence of traffic on the router, this is what causes jitter and choppiness. my personal QOS set-up has SIP and RTP ...

Re: No Sound on iPod Docking Station
Quick question: Do you engage the Fongo app before or after docking? It is likely that due-to the Java based nature of the client, it hooks the default sound device at the time the fongo app is started, and is incapable of transitioning after that time. It's also possible that the app is simply hard...

Most routers do not like receiving it's own outgoing message. (Read up on Spanning Tree Protocol), many providers similarly don't like routing back to the originating device, again, read up on Spanning Tree Protocol :P You almost certainly have to test with the devices on different WiFi networks. How can you put your ATA (in my case the PAP2T) before the router? Another electronic box I see. Unfortunately in your case you have an ATA that does not also include routing functions. (Has only 1 ethernet port) Many ATAs and SIP Phone have a WAN and a LAN ethernet port allowing it to be the prima...

I don't believe PBXes were ever officially supported, what PBX server do you use? try masking the user-agent as a linksys ATA and see what happens.
