This just happened again today.
August 11th 2011, 12:43pm.
FPL to FPL (FPL to other phone has never been an issue and still isn't)
both ends using PAP2T's
nothing has changed on either end in the past few months (I manage both of them)
Steve, I PM'd you the two FPL phone numbers involved.

Re: Incoming calls- I can not hear, they can hear me
Thanks bridonca.
That's not the issue though.
I have ports mapped and my routers restarts itself nightly. I'm running dd-wrt as well...
It's something that has just started recently.
The other end that I'm talking to is a different router too.

Re: Incoming calls- I can not hear, they can hear me
I have had the same thing happen. I noticed it towards the end of last week (though I haven't been using my phone much before then). Had it just happen again today too. Both ends are on FPL using ATA devices, and have been for at least a year or so, nothing has changed in either of our setups. Norma...

Re: MWI - Message Waiting Indicator not working
My MWI just kicked in and is indicating a voicemail now.
I haven't tested clearing it and doing another but I assume it is working.
Guess something was changed on the server since nothing changed on my end at all.
A shame it took just under a week to get it fixed...

Re: voice mail dial tone despite no voice mail
I wonder if this is related to this thread
http://forum.freephoneline.ca/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=2273
not receiving the new voicemail tone despite actually having a new voicemail.
It's like the MWI/voicemail indicator is not working so it won't change its status from off to on or from on to off...

Re: MWI - Message Waiting Indicator not working
Mine is the same. Left a test voicemail, it's now been almost 2 days since and no indicator. Nothing has changed on my end, still using the PAP2T that is in my profile info. Something must have changed on the server. I wonder if it is only certain ATA models or something... Anyone else having this i...

Re: Sound Cuts Out for Half a Second Randomly
I was just on a 1 hour phone call and it was flawless. tripico, confirm you have QoS setup so your phone device has priority on your internet connection or try plugging your ATA phone device directly into your modem as a test. taken from an earlier post: Confirm that you have QoS setup on your route...

Re: Sound Cuts Out for Half a Second Randomly
bedihardeep, Are you sure you are experiencing the very short half second sound cutout? Listen to the audio files in this zip file which was posted in the first message of this thread. http://forum.freephoneline.ca/download/file.php?id=260 If it is longer than half a second as demonstrated in those ...

Re: Sound Cuts Out for Half a Second Randomly
I just did a 10 minute test and no sound cutouts.
Big improvement compared to previously when there were 4 or so cutouts per minute at times.
Hopefully this solved it but will need to test for a few days to confirm nothing comes back.

Re: Sound Cuts Out for Half a Second Randomly
When this first started I ordered a GrandStream HT502 because I just wanted the issue solved. It didn't help, the GrandStream actually appeared to be worse than my PAP2T.... I wish that was a fix...it would have been easy. And yes I have done testing with both devices connected directly to the modem...

Re: Sound Cuts Out for Half a Second Randomly
Just did some more testing with the softphone. Plugged my computer directly into my cable modem. Was on into my voicemail at 4:01pm. Within a minute there were more than 5 times that it cutout for half a second. Changed my prompt level to extended, she talks a lot longer now before having to hit a b...

Re: Sound Cuts Out for Half a Second Randomly
Tried Jake's suggestion and tested the softphone. Looks like it still happens. I only tested for 2 1/2 minutes but it did happen a couple of times. I have had QoS running the entire time. Also tested with ATA connected directly to modem. The problem still happens. Ninja if it happens when you are on...

Re: Sound Cuts Out for Half a Second Randomly
I noticed the same thing.
On the phone around 8am and it doesn't happen very often.
Getting into 10am or so and it starts getting worse.
And when I do some tests at 2am it's not very often again.

Re: Sound Cuts Out for Half a Second Randomly
I don't think it's related to Torix. On my main Rogers line at home I come in through Cogentco in the States and it's quite bad, if not worse than the connections that I've tested on coming through Torix. And I don't think it's related to traffic that we can see on our end. The different tests I hav...

cont'd from above Rogers Rogers-Markham.jpg And this is the debug log from my pap2 on the Rogers connection. There were a few blips right near the end. No entries in the debug log that corresponded with the blips at all. And the blips did not correspond with any of the red marks/packet drops in the ...

Re: Sound Cuts Out for Half a Second Randomly
An update. This is still happening. I was using my phone during the day today and it seemed to be fine. I used it again 30 minutes later and it was cutting every minute or so and at some points a couple times per minute. The other end must have asked me to repeat myself close to 20 times. There is n...

Re: Sound Cuts Out for Half a Second Randomly
cp24isgoodnews, I have had this same issue on 4 different connections. Rogers at home in Markham. Cogeco cable in Niagara Falls. Bell DSL in Toronto. A 10 meg business fibre line in Toronto. All behaved the same with random cutouts. I was really thinking the 10 meg fibre line would have worked, espe...

Re: Sound Cuts Out for Half a Second Randomly
And yes I get some packet loss everytime the sound cuts out. I constantly refreshed the status page on my ata during a test call to voicemail just now and everytime there was a sound cutout Packets Lost would jump by 5 or 20. Having tested 4 different connections I don't see how all 4 of those could...

Hi leoasil Back on page 1 and 2 of this thread there are some pics of visual tracerts of the path taken. I have had this issue on a connection I used to test that goes through torontointernetxchange.net (torix) and also cogentco.com in the states. It unfortuantely (or maybe fortunately) does not app...

Re: Sound Cuts Out for Half a Second Randomly
Yes go for it if you get a chance Laurent.
Have a listen to the audio files in post 7 to hear what I am talking about exactly too.
I keep the menus going constantly in voicemail so the girl is always talking, if there's silcence on the call then obviously wouldn't hear the sound cutting out...
