Re: Should this number be free?

I got a "you don't have sufficient balance" message when trying to call a 306-954-XXXX number. It's a Saskatoon Shaw number. Can someone please look into this? Thanks! http://www.localcallingguide.com/lca_prefix.php?npa=306&nxx=954&x=&ocn=&region=&lata=&switch=&...

Re: Asterisk configuration

Done. Are you worried about the bit of bandwidth used to reply to OPTIONS message? Hi, No i am not worried. This is how I configure it myself since this is a trunk. If it was an extension, I will change to yes. It is common for trunks to be setup this way. Thanks, OK, thanks! Guys, where do you ent...

Asterisk configuration

Hi everyone, Every couple of years or so I like to ask the gurus that lurk this forum about the optimal asterisk configuration. I have asterisk set up and it works, but I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to make bolder/better/faster/stronger. This is my configuration today: username=1#######...

Re: Weird incoming calls problem

dibsmft, My PBX connects to FPL and my ATA box connects to FPL via the router. Therefore, anything accessing the ATA is all internal to my LAN (PBX and ATA are on the same LAN), and there is no need to forward any ports to it. Steve, Thanks for the tip. I changed the port back to 5060 and I'll see i...

Re: Weird incoming calls problem

My setup is a little more complicated: it's modem -> router -> IP PBX (asterisk) -> ATA (connected to the router, not the PBX) -> phone. My SIP port and RTP ports (all 10,000 of them) are forwarded to my PBX. What's weird though is if the problem was the router, wouldn't FPL just send the call to vo...

Re: Weird incoming calls problem

That actually may be the issue. I recently changed my SIP port to something non-standard on my router (so that people don't try to get into my PBX). I'll change it back and beef up security in other ways to see if this helps. Thanks for the tip, I didn't even consider that it could be a router issue...

Weird incoming calls problem

Hi, Just wondering if anyone else experiences this: people who call me recently started complaining that they're sporadically getting a busy tone when they call me. Alternatively, they complain that it just rings forever. Normally when this happens to someone, if they try to hang up and call back ri...

Re: Is there a service problem today in Toronto?

Not working here either (London, Ontario with a Toronto number). I can register, but incoming and outgoing calls don't work. I also set it to Call forward if my SIP client is offline, and when I get my number I get a busy signal. Also, all my other trunks work and there has been no change in configu...

Re: Caller ID and Name

Freephoneline does not do name lookups on incoming calls, so you will always see a number and not a name. This is not an issue of setting, it's an issue of cost as each name lookup through the CNAM database would cost freephoneline money. Since freephoneline is a free service, CNAM lookups are not p...

Re: Service Interruption - March 18, 2012

So the real question becomes, is this just a service for the young folks who also carry around a cell phone, the people who are so cash strapped that this is their best alternative or is this the "real deal", the "game changer" as per the Toronto Star article that got me interes...

Re: how to disable stock phone dialer

You have to be more specific. Which tablet do you have, ipad or android? If you have an ipad, you may be out of luck. If you're on android, you will have to root and muck around deep in the system settings to change the default dialer. XDA-developers (dot com) is probably a better forum for asking t...

Re: SIP URI?

Please please please be careful doing what dibsmft suggests. You are opening your phone line to the entire world, meaning anyone with a SIP connection anywhere in the world can call you for free. I tried to open up my phone to SIP calls once, and ended up getting weird calls at 3:00AM, with no one o...

Re: Call-waiting tone: can we change volume or tone??

This is not an FPL issue, it has to do with your specific ATA. I don't own a grandstream, but on the PAP2T, you can set the call waiting tones in the Advanced settings under the Regional tab. You'll have to google around to figure out how to do it on your HT-286, if it supports it.

Call forwarding and Ring-All

Hello, I know that FPL offers call forwarding, but there are only two options: always forward and forward when offline. I am interested in a ring-all feature: one that would ring both my stationary phone (attached through an ATA) and my cell phone through call forward. As it stands, always forward o...
