Re: Changing Area Code/Phone number ???

This raises an interesting question --- in the above scenario, if Janet were to call in, would a support agent be able to assist her in getting perhaps the same -LINE number (last 4 digits), rather than the random number assignment of signing up online? And the whole issue about having to re-registe...

Re: I can call but they can't hear me!

70+% of the time, that's horrible! How can we rely on DV if Fongo's network isn't working properly? Can somebody at Fongo inform us if there is a network issue since last week? To clarify, I am *POSITIVE* that my calling problems are largely due to the FPL PC Softphone v3.0.3.0 and NOT the network....

Re: Call quality to 807 Area Code

I would guess that this would be a call-routing issue. My suggestion (sorry Mike and Steve) would be to cut and paste call logs with times from these calls in a PM to Mike or Steve so that they can peek under the hood to see how these calls are being routed/handled. Your description of details seems...

Re: Time of Voicemail is not correct

Whenever someone leaves me a voicemail the time indicated is incorrect by a bunch of hours. Can someone correct this? If you are in the Eastern Time Zone (Toronto-area) then the timestamp is correct. I am out in BC and it is off by 3 hours, but I have gotten very good at converting this on the fly ...

if i dial out using FPL account, it shows Correct ported # on the "caller ID" when i call to ask for tech support that "porting didn't complete properly" they refuse to help me what can i do? Be more persistent with them. Get the rep's name or ID number as well. If they continue...

Re: Incoming calls fail

If the number can be reached by one carrier, it can be (should be) reached by all carriers. In this case, i agree, the other voip provider is who you would need to contact about not being able to reach the number. Not the case at ALL Mike ... each carrier must update it's OWN rates&routing tabl...

rants

It was more of a point that I was making, back against 'crichdr' ... (s)he was pretty quick to pile on Fongo and blame the whole shot there -- myself, I tend to spread blame around where it belongs, and I hope apportionately. So .. FONGO -- fix your infernal default PC softphones (all brands!)!!!!

Trouble reports

Through FPL there is an option to create a report already. http://www.freephoneline.ca/contactUs As to pre-filling it, that is another story......when using the email address linked to the number, it auto fills your information on our side, so it is mainly looking for just your FPL number and email...

I am at a loss, sorry. As I said on my post, the registration-state seems to freeze, and I need to NUDGE it to get it to go again. PM Steve or Mike with a link to this thread and see if they might be able to do something on their end to look into your specific problem. Sorry I could not be of more a...

Re: Incoming calls fail

I have a weird problem. I can call the Dellvoice app from Telus cellphone, but when I tried to call from my other VOIP phone, I get "number you have dialed is not in service"? Is it because I just signed up today and it's not fully setup yet? I'm using the android app on Samsung galaxy S3...

Re: I can call but they can't hear me!

Fairly sure that the Android app also leans on JAVA for it's coding. I suspect (just a wild guess - no proof!) that it is a network thing at Fongo, as my PC-app software has been having a TON of audio issues too, whereas I had about a 5-10% problem before, it is now 70+% of the time I am having issu...

Re: Trouble calling long distance to the US

I would love to give you an answer to this -- I suffer from similar problems though with the PC softphone app -- my outgoing calls have massive audio problems, but incoming calls seem to be somewhat more reliable. It may be to do with how the traffic is handled on the Fongo-network side, or in my ca...

Chiming in on the end of this, but yes, PUBLIC wifi frequently blocks VOIP & torrent traffic (yes, there is an ampersand in there! ;) ).

Thanks for the tirade about how Fongo sucks, but then catching that it was a WIFI issue.

Can we have a "Public WIFI sucks" rant now too please?

Once at the web interface, I think that it relies on Acrobat Reader to be installed, but that is a fairly common and free to use chunk of software.

AFAIK, "airplane mode" disables all transmissions/receptions from your phone, basically turning it into a handheld contact manager, game platform etc.

Re: ported in a number - still rings on old provider's adapt

Your port was confirmed as successful? You have put in all the settings correctly that you were provided into your ATA? If so, there is no reason why your old provider should still have control of your number in any way shape or form (as of the port being confirmed), and the fact that it rings on th...

It's funny because this is the 2nd time that has come up in a week or so. I still don't know why the ATA allows you to put them in if it is going to break it, unless it is something FPLs end. Re: Static in the background, and doesn't send dial pad numb
