Re: DLink DPH540 wifi sip phone + Bell 2wire please help!
Well, in a nutshell, those two mechanisms are ways for the device to ask the router directly "please forward this and that to me", without you having to do it. The router must support it, and the device too, obviously. For STUN, you need to tell your device to contact a public server that ...

Re: DLink DPH540 wifi sip phone + Bell 2wire please help!
G711u (uLaw) is a codec you *must* allow in order to receive phone calls. To make outgoing phone calls, you can pick either G711 (good for quality) or G729 (saves bandwidth). If you can't forward the ports, the yes, you chances of making it work and receiving calls are slim. You'll be able to make c...

Re: "310" 7 digit dial numbers are not area code "310"
At the bottom of Gino's website main page, they print in large letters the general toll-fre access number: 1-866-310-GINO.
I think that one will work because it's not really a 310-xxxx number "shortcut", but an 866 toll-free regular number.

Re: DLink DPH540 wifi sip phone + Bell 2wire please help!
Make sure capitalizations are followed for the password, as it's case sensitive. Even though that wouldn't prevent registering, in your Bell 2-wire modem router, you'll need to forward more ports. Add: 6060, 6061. What do you mean by this sentence: "then a public IP address" ? Your wifi ph...

Re: G729 not allowed on Inbound calls?
I believe in Asterisk, G711u/a codecs are named "ulaw" and "alaw" respectively, not "g711".

100% pure old-fashioned genuine plaintext, from my understanding of the code.zombie999 wrote:So is the password sent in plain text or as one-way-hash on the current FPL site?

Re: G729 not allowed on Inbound calls?
It's the same for everyone. Your device must accept the G711 codec to receive a call, plain and simple. You're allowed to switch to G729 for outgoing calls, but that's optional. I've set my ATA to use G711 on both, because it sounds better than G729, and I still have more than ample bandwidth with m...

MWI stuck ON, but it's not FPL's fault!
I have a Linksys PAP2. I had voicemails, MWI turned on. I then deleted these voicemails. MWI turned off in the ATA, off for my VTEC (or whatever cheap brand) cordless phone. But my Panasonic cordless phone keeps MWI on! I power-cycled the base, same thing. Rebooted the ATA, same thing. I don't get i...

Re: fpl.ca is not using a https for password, is this safe?
No, it's not safe. Don't login to FPL if you're on a network you do not trust.
It's been discussed here http://forum.freephoneline.ca/viewtopic ... 893#p10755
The password can only be changed by special request. PM the admins or call support.

Re: How to use PFL in the iPod Touch 4gen?
Regardless of the software you try, FPL can only ring ONE SIP device at a time. To have multiple SIP devices ring simultaneously, you'll have to do special setup like running your own PBX or get an account at pbxes.org (or other) and map your FPL line through that. As for SIP software, Siphon works ...

Not only that, but phpBB also fails spectacularly at managing the daylight savings time... official response from pphBB admins is "Post an announcement twice a year so that users go to their control panels and change their DST, just like they would also set their microwave oven clocks." .....

Try to power-cycle it, and check for firmware upgrades. There's been documented issues at Cisco for your device model relating to caller ID stopping to work after some time.

Re: GrandStream HT-502
Well, as a follow-up to my persistent problem of the ATA losing registrationg and requiring a reboot, I did the following steps to resolve the problem: 1. Remove HT502 2. Install Linksys PAP2. That is all. Bought it for like 50$ at OnHop.ca, took 5 minutes to install, and I've been happy since. Not ...

Re: PAP2 in Europe? or what ATA?
There's a few settings you'll need to adjust in the ATA to match the european phone you'll be plugging in it. Check Linksys documentation for that.
You'll at least need to adjust ring voltage, frequency and stuff like that, mostly for the ringing. The rest is pretty similar.

The softphone isn't 100% like a SIP call, but as you mention you use Teksavvy in Montreal, I can tell you they don't block any ports, so it'll work fine.

I assume you've purchased your SIP configuration form FPL? Make sure you're typing the username as your full phone number (with "1"), and the password properly with capitalizations.
As for server, it's "voip.freephoneline.ca", make sure there's no typos there.
