Does fongo change the phone number without warning?

I am newbie here, and just open a new account. I am going to use fongo for my small business. I have just one question. Does fongo change my new registered phone number, without asking me? As I mention, I will use it for my small business, so I will put the phone number on my business card. It is very important to know if I will lose the number or not.

No, but if the account is not used much, or you violate Fongo's TOS, Fongo can delete the account. You can get past that by using the account periodically, have a phone number ported over, or buy long distance credit.

As long as the texting service is active, and you are not doing anything stupid (mass cold calling being an example), you can keep your number as long as you want.

Basically as long as you keep using your account normally it will remain active. They just don't want thousands of dormant numbers they could be using.

Just out of curiosity, what does a dormant number cost them? Isn't that basically free?

If they didn't repurpose dormant numbers then they would just have to keep buying more and more for new customers to sign up. That would get very expensive in the end, especially as they don't get anything from us signing up. If they charged a monthly fee then I wouldn't expect they cared if the number was dormant or not, but it just wouldn't make sense to keep a lot of your commodity doing nothing and having to pay more to replace it.

A dormant number makes Fongo no money. A Fongo number that receives incoming calls, makes Fongo fractions of a penny, but they make money. It adds up.

You buy credit, or port a number over, or buy a texting package, Fongo is well compensated, and those services paid for that number. The chances of most of these services being paid for again are higher, so it makes sence for Fongo to keep an inactive number.
