Couple of Question

Post by stevdes »

Can you port any landline phone # from any company to your service?

If so, and after the number is ported and I call my current phone provider to cancel the service with them. Will I need a dry loop? If that is the case that will mean I will need an internet provider that provides a dry loop connection, is this correct?

Thanks

Yep, we can port any landline or cellphone number to our services. Porting is $19.95 and requires a signed LOA form (we send you) and a copy of your last phone bill from your current provider.

After porting is completed, we will phone you and you can discontinue your old phone provider.

Since you have no phone line, you will need a dry loop OR cable internet to provide the internet required for your VOIP to work. We have a great internet plan available on our main site and some great VOIP modems to go with it. Our dry loops are a flat rate of $8.95 a month, which is a great price for them. Dry loops come in different bands depending on your area and most providers will charge more for higher bands - we do not.

Please let me know if you have any other questions

For the dry loop, is it something that a professional needs to install? Or is it simply plugged into the phone jack?

Bell installs it at your outside dmark to use the other pair of wires in your phone line. You just take the wiring for the jack you want it to be on inside the house and switch it over to the second wiring pair

If I already have Rogers home phone (the one I cancel) and I keep my cable internet, do I still need a dry loop?

Well, you wouldn't need our internet at all then if you keep your cable internet!

I did not post the original question. I just wanted to be clear that I did not need a dry loop.

The plan for me for now is to cancel my Rogers phone and get your service. Is a dry loop needed or not? (I will retain my cable internet for now as I am stuck in a contract). I suspect not, but I wanted to be sure.

I was hoping I could attach my ATA to my router which has it has QoS, then run a phone line from the ATA to where Rogers hooked up to my telephone (its hooked to their router which I will return).

I am thinking this will connect all the phones in the house to the VOiP service. Am I missing anything?

Whoops, I didn't notice that you wern't the original poster when asking that question.
If you have rogers internet right now then you will not need a dry loop.
You should be able to plug that phone jack where rogers has all your phones connected straight into our ATA. That line should feed all the home phones from the ATA then.
