Setting up SoftPhone

Post by RustyHD »

I downloaded software and installed on my PC. I have a Linksys WRT54GS Router on Teksavvy DSL high speed internet. In the router I can go to Games & Applications, Forwarding. Here I need to enter an application name, ports, protocol, IP address and enable. For application name there is room for 12 characters so I'm not sure what to enter. Application FreePhoneLine is 13 so is it something else? Continuing, I start the application and login. When I test my connection, I get call service is ok. I dial out and get no sound in either direction, so I figure ports 13000-13001 are not being forwarded properly. So that returns us back to the application name. I'm running Windows XP Pro SP2, anything special I need to do there? Running Norton Internet Security and FreePhoneLine.exe is allowed full access to the internet. I figure if the softphone works, I'll have a pretty good chance of the ATA box working. Any help would be appreciated.

Application name is simply a name you give to the forward so you can easily remember it :)
As long as you forward the ports needed to your local PC, you can name it whatever you want!
