Dead for two days!!!

Postby madroone » 09/24/2009

OK...things have been working very well lately so thank you free phone line for that, now it was so good that i canceled my home service with rogers.

Well all was well until the last couple days, i'm down and out...no good!!!!

I have not changed anything at all, I replaced my D-link router with a Linksys router and forwarded both 5060 and 5061.

If i call out...(to my cell) my cell rings but the freephoneline phone is dead air....if i answer i can hear the person from the cell phone but nothing on the freephoneline phone...dead air.

If i call my home phone (freephoneline) it doesn't ring either on my cell phone or on my home phone...if you wait long enough you get a busy like tone...no vm...nothing.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

What are you using to call out? Check out the Device Configurations section of Home in the forum to see if your ATA is there, if not what is it? Or are you using the software?

Have you opened ports 13000, 13001, as well as 5060 - 6061?

calling out...right now my cell phone lol...on the company dime!

I'm using Linksys PAP2T, I've followed the "config walk through" to ensure my settings are correct, they look all good to me, like i said the only change i made was a new router, i may have to switch it out to see if that is the problem but i doubt it.

I have opened 5060 and 5061 but not the 1300x ports as those are for the softphone i thought and i don't use that.

Re: Dead for two days!!!

Postby madroone » 09/24/2009

ok i like to think i'm getting closer....

I removed my linksys router, put back my d-link...

i reset the ATA box and filled it all in from scratch....

When i call my FPL from my cell, it now rings and my answering service picks up....

It doesn't ring at the house...why would that be?

I've checked all my settings but i'm sure i'm missing something small now...

So...no dial tone and no ringing at my house....line one is lite up on my ATA...seems to be authenticating to the server just fine...

OK...more details...when i call from my cell phone the house doesn't ring but the line does and goes to VM....

When i have both lines turned "on" then i get a dial tone and can dial out.

OK...back again...seems to work now...i'm pretty sure that the linksys 160n router is what is screwing things up...got it working tonight...will make another attempt at the linksys router tomorrow and see if it works...if not, i'll report back the router that will NOT work with the FPL service.

Thanks guys for the help

Can you post your settings here?..

When you say it doesn't ring does that mean when you call FROM a phone TO your FreePhoneLine Phone the phone your calling from doesn't ring? Or your FPL Phone doesn't ring?

Sounds good, I'll email or call you tomorrow to get a thorough understanding of your issue.

It's an odd question, but what is the IP range of your Dlink, Linksys Router, as well as ATA?

ie. What do you type into your URL bar to get to the configuration menu, I believe Linksys ATA's are 192.168.1.xx, and the routers are 192.168.1.1, is Dlink the same?

When I said I was "fiddling" with the back-end I was changing your dialing rules and routing tables around. Nothing major, but it's possible that the back-end issues magically appeared and resolved themselves in a matter of hours?
