Voip router behind another router

Post by brockoli »

I'm having trouble getting my VOIP router (linksys WRT54GP2) to connect to the login server. I have a regular router (R1) connected to my cable modem and a switch. I've got my VOIP router (R2) also connected to the same switch via one of it's LAN ports. I've set a static IP on R2 and disabled DHCP server, as well as set all my VOIP settings. So it looks like this (Internet)->Cable Modem->R1->Switch->R2->Telephone

The problem is that R2 can't connect to the login server. I assume it is because I need to forward some ports in R1 to R2. My SIP port is set to 5060 in R2. I've forwarded the range 5060-6061 on R1 to R2's IP address but it still won't connect. I've also forwarded ports 16384-16482 as I read somewhere to do this. Not sure why. :(

Anyone have any idea why this isn't working? Thx.

Check your DNS settings on R2.
