received a fax to my freephoneline #

Post by etrain »

Has this happened to anyone else? I then tried to send a fax to my fpl number but it did not work. Does fpl receive faxes?

Freephoneline does recieve faxes though we do not support it, since we will first need to get an ATA that supports T.38 faxing 100% of the time.

Hi, by the moment it is not possible to send fax using FPL, in case they implant that special feature they will post it soon, I hope this should be the answer you were looking for.

Can you please clarify this.

The same thing happened to me that happened to the OP. In the past I've received the odd fax in my inbox. When trying to send a fax to my FreePhoneLine # from a normal, working fax machine, it doesn't work.

I realize you don't support faxing, but could you explain why this is happening?

So the fax goes through but never gets received? Our fax number here is just a plain old freephoneline number linked with an email address in the office - nothing special done.

As for faxes at your number, if you haven't given the number to someone to fax, then perhaps there's some sort of fax spamming service out there? We don't give out your numbers though.

Yes it's definitely fax spam. I've received maybe 4 or 5 in the 9 months I've had FPL. And no, when I tried to fax FROM a regular fax TO my FPL number, it does not complete -- it fails to send.

I'm not really concerned about the fact that I get spam. I'm sure there are companies that just grab a bunch of consecutive phone numbers and try faxing. I would like to figure out how to be able to receive faxes on my FPL #

The only way I have managed to do it is to let the FPL answer phone pick up the call. It then saves the fax as a message and I have the setting to forward messages to my email so I get it in my inbox. I have found I can (most of the time) send a fax using my FPL to another number. Although I have not tried too hard to set it up, I have not been able to receive a fax on my machine here attached to my FPL, but I do not get that many faxes for me to spend too much time on it.

This is what I've already tried. I don't have a physical fax machine hooked up to my FPL #. I just let FPL answer take it and it SHOULD forward me the email of the fax, but the fax does not go through.

EDIT: ok I just tested again, but this time I set my "Seconds until Voicemail setting" to 2 seconds, and the faxing worked perfectly. It sent and I received it in my inbox.

Great. Love it!

It is under "followme" settings, you can do quite a bit there.

When I said this I was directing it towards this question:
where were you able to set your "Seconds until Voicemail"?
We do not support faxing over our lines, only receiving.
