Usually I say 2 - 4 weeks, since everything right now is run manually. Once the automated billing is put in place (No ETA yet), it will be all live payments and your SIP settings will be shown automatically.

Hi admin,

Since my previous VOIP contract with Acanac will be expired soon, I'm really anxious to to get my config file ASAP. Since I didn't receive my config file, I can't activate my international call plan. I have no idea how long activating long distance plan will take after I receive your config file.

I sent my request on Jan 15th, would you mind checking my case status please?

Thanks.

No problem. Also, is this our long distance plan? - It is instantly activated when you sign up.

I run a small proprietorship that sells a seasonal product. In June when we are real busy, we process credit card orders via IVR (manually, just like you). We use a cheap shareware product that speeds it up somewhat. If we have to do them by hand, eg after a trade show and we have the slips in hand from manual imprints, it takes about one hour to process 60 credit card slips.

So, if you are swamped with orders, you could hire a high school student to come in after school and he/she could process at least 120 orders per day if they just worked 2 hours. Hire 5 students and you could do 600 orders.

Wow, you guys must be getting TONS of subscribers if you are taking so long and having so much trouble processing credit cards!

Interesting,

When I phoned and ordered the config file on Tuesday or Wednesay of this week, the sales rep said, 'you should get your config file next Monday'.

Having already read this thread I simply thought to myself, 'that is highly unlikely'.

Just rereading this thread to update myself however the thought occurred to me, why is the sales rep giving out a time frame that is not realistic? I must confess the sales person did not seem to be in touch with the other side of things (when I asked him how I would get the config file he wasn't really sure until I suggested that I read in the forum you would see it when you log into your account and then he said, 'oh yeah, that's it!'), making me think maybe they work on contract from their homes just taking orders? Is it a communication problem between the sales dept that are taking the orders and the tech support? If so, maybe the sales team needs to be brought up to date.

What time did you call? It would be a communication issue for sure, they are in both our call center and a call center in the Dominican Rep.

Sorry I can't even remember what day it was: Tuesday or Wednesday I suspect, about mid afternoon MST, but that's probably not much help to you. I know I detected an accent (sounded west asian to me), which made me think I may have got a foreign call center, but that's pretty common these days so I thought nothing of it.

In my case I've left lots of time so it didn't really matter to me and I already knew about the wait.

Just FYI, a few minutes ago my daughter tried to call our 587 883-xxxx freephoneline number from her Rogers cell phone and 1) first you get a message saying it is long distance, then 2) 'the call could not be completed'. I called Rogers and they said that they recognize 587 883 as local call so it shouldn't be billed long distance, and then they wouldn't talk to my because I foolishly volunteered to the third person I had been transferred to (I had already told the first it was not my phone) that it was not mine but my daughter's phone, in fact I got a spanking for calling them on a phone that was not mine. Then out of curiosity with the same phone I called the local access number for our calling card (that is on Primus), then I dialed 587 883-xxxx, and the call completed no problem (said it came from 647-288-4875). So I guess Rogers network has not caught up with the new Alberta area code and exchange numbers yet. Now to go rub some ointment on my rear end, it still hurts from the spanking....

Hmm, this is a global problem. Bell, and now Rogers I guess do not recognize the exchanges our numbers come from (Fibernetics Exchanges - http://www.localcallingguide.com/lca_pr ... p?ocn=464D).

We encourage our customers to call and open a ticket regarding this issue, because really, no one wants to call a LOCAL number and be charged, or be told they MIGHT be charged long distance!

With Rogers, as you probably know, just getting to speak to some protoplasm with a high school education and a heartbeat is like getting a ticket to the Vancouver Olympics. I talked to 3 people and I couldn't get any of them to open a ticket. The first two simply could not even wrap their head around what I was trying to explain, they kept interupting me because they thought they knew already what I was about to say, interpreting my explanation as 'I make local calls with my cell phone and get charged for long distance' and could not wrap their heads around, or listen long enough to hear the part where I explained it was to call a new area code and exchange that was local.

I think the problem is that most of us simply don't have the time or patience to deal with severely flawed companies like Rogers when the only reward for your efforts ends up being frustration and anger.

BTW, in case anyone else cares to give it a shot, I asked them for a land line number that would get me a human if I had to call back, and this is what they gave me: 1-888-764-3771

Hmm, well I know one of my colleagues have been in contact with IXC and they've just hung up notifying us that "it's not their issue, it's the individual carriers".

Well, perhaps this is part of an evil plot on the part of Kris, but much to my suprise, and making me look foolish, I just got back to town and found in my Inbox a note telling my my SIP settings were ready on my account.

So, it is Monday, and you'll recall that's when the sales rep told me I would receive my settings, and it now seems he was correct. So perhaps I was premature in assuming he was mis-informed. As I was quite prepared to wait longer anyway (I don't even have my ATA yet), I hope that is an encouraging sign for others as well as myself.

Thanks.
