Cannot export xxx: Error opening the file

Post by Emily Hu »

Hello! I need help!

I just registered with freephoneline and instaledl the app. After installing the app, I received the message below:

Cannot export C:\Users\XXX\Freephoneline\temp.txt: Error opening the file. There may be a disk or file system error.

I use Windows 7.

What's wrong? What I should do for this?

Thanks.

odd error

Did this just happen the one time, or have you tried more than once? My totally non-technical solution would be to do an uninstall and then re-install and see if the problem duplicates itself. May just have been 'one of those things' as it seems like a very odd error.

Thank you!

I did. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app but I still got the message.

The message is:

Cannot export C:\Users\emily\Freephoneline\temp.txt: Error opening the file. There may be a disk or file system error.

I checked the folder and found folder emily is locked.

How can I change the setting and move the folder and file Freephoneline\temp.txt to a public and unlocked folder? My system is Windows 7.

Thank you very much!

So you are having an issue with being able to open the program all together, or is it an issue with downloading where it is asking to you modify or repair the program install? This kind of issue may need a little more information regarding your computer and the firewall settings that your operating system has. Please send me a personal message if this is still causing you trouble.

Try this:

Log in to your Win 7 as a user with Admin privileges.
Install the Freephoneline app.

Try the REVO UNINSTALLER program to remove FPL software and then try reinstalling. The built-in uninstaller is notorious for missing stuff and leaving files/links etc.

See if that works.

Then when you go to reinstall, make sure you are in admin permission mode -- not sure if that applies on XP Pro as it has been too long since I have used that OS! :/

I don't have the softphone installed in my XP Pro machines and I have not experienced your error on my Win 7 test machine. However, there is one more idea that I can throw in.

- Log in to windows with Admin privileges.
- Then open the app by right-clicking on the icon then selecting Run as.... Then choose Administrator, provide the necessary password if required.

Now, cross your fingers! :)
