Hi,
Actually i was trying to configure my Follow Me setting but I am encountering problem. The maximum number of rings before my call will be forwarded to voicemall is "5" and the maximum number of rings before my call will be forwarded to follow me number is "10", So do i have to keep my follow me number rings less than "5" if i want it to get forwarded to my number ? and if it so why maximum rings upto "10" are given in followme number?
Please clarify.
Thanks

Re: VoiceMail and FollowMe Number
A great question!
If you have a FollowMe # set, Fongo will attempt to ring to that number for the indicated # of rings. Once that is answered (either the call connects, or vmail picks up on the forward), forwarding stops. If however, your # of rings to the FM # is less than required to trigger vmail (or if there is no vmail there), the call returns to your Fongo # to be terminated by IT's voicemail (which is where the rings before voicemail comes in!).
If your ATA is not active, or is unavailable (or softphone if no ATA), then it will go immediately to your Fongo vmail.
Note that your ata/sp may or may no ring, depending on how you have FM set up --- always vs unavailable.
Did this clear things up?

Re: VoiceMail and FollowMe Number
Thanks alot for your reply
Does it means if i set up FollowMe# it will ring first then my ATA ? Isn't it possible that my ATA box will ring first and then if it dont get answered then it will get forwarded to my FM number ?
Thanks once again

When setting up your follow me number, you will have the option to select "Always" or "when unavailable". The unavailable will first try to ring your Fongo line, if it is not logged in, or passes X number (you can select how many) of rings, it will then send the call to your follow me number.

But the point is that the maximum number of rings on FONGO Voicemail is limited to "5". So do i need to keep the number of rings (before it forward call to FM#) below "5" always as it well then put the call to FONGO Voicemail ?
Am i Correct ? Please Clarify
Thanks

Re: VoiceMail and FollowMe Number
Mike may have confused things ....
Step 1) Set up your follow me correctly ....
You need to choose how you want to forward your calls ... ALWAYS forward them, or only when your ATA/software is not available to answer. If you select ALWAYS forward, your ATA will never ring at all ever ....
Step 2) Pick a number for rings .... this only applies if you select UNAVAILABLE ...
What will happen is that IF your ATA is connected or softphone is open, it will ring this number of times before the call is passed over to the FOLLOW ME # (or #'s)
Step 3) Set your follow me #'s and number of rings that each will ring ...
Call will hit the first (or all, if simultaneous) # and ring it for the duration indicated.
If this duration is long enough to trigger an answer either via you answering or the voicemail picking up, the sequence is stopped.
Call is passed to subsequent FM numbers as per above ...
When the call is finally NOT answered, it is passed IMMEDIATELY to the voicemail server at Fongo (regardless now of the # of rings until voicemail) and the VM system starts.
Does THIS clear things up? Or are we still confused?
