LINKSYS PAP2T PROVISIONING FILE SETUP MADE REAL EASY

Postby sebastian.barbieri » 05/12/2010

I am posting a provisioning file for everyone to use. I have it loaded on my bell sympatico ftp web server. This makes the setup of the linksys Pap2t box easy as 1-2-3.

First you must find the ip address of your ATA. To do this pick up the phone plugged into the ata. Dial ****110#
Once you have your ip address for that ATA. Type the ip into any web browser.
Once into the GUI of the ATA follow Below

Click Admin Login

2.JPG

Click Switch To Advanced View

3.JPG

Click On The Provisioning Tab

Once You are into the Provisioning section.

Find The Profile Rule Box and add the Link To The Provisioning File.
4.JPG

5.JPG

Add The Link " http://www3.sympatico.ca/whop_ass_316/pap2FPL.xml " minus the quotes and spaces.

Save The Settings To the ATA.
6.JPG

Once the settings have been saved. Unplug the ATA power For 3 Seconds and plug in again.
Wait about 10-30 secconds.

now retype your ATA ip into the browser once again.
Now Go To the Line 1 Tab and just add your FPL Username and password.
Save again.
Once this is saved pick up the phone and dial.

All the settings that FPL recommends Have been set.

"oh and i forgot to say after the box has provisioned it self. The Profile rule box should be blank. This means it worked. And If your setting up a new box it might have something in the Profilr Rule box to begin with... something like init.cfg just erase that and replace it with the link i provided.

It did not work for me. I had to do the manual set up:

Please note that screenshots are provided for reference only and not as information sources
Linksys ATA Configuration Walk-Through
- Plug in ATA and connect telephone into back of ATA
- Pick up the receiver, you may or may not get a dial tone
- PRESS **** 110 # on the keypad (this will give you the private IP of the ATA)
- Type the IP into your browser if you are on same private IP range
- Once the Linksys page comes up, click “Admin login” then “Switch to Advanced view”

Sorry to hear that it didnt work. I use this method to provision about 300 ata's a week. Are u sure you un plugged and pluged in the unit? and also you must go back to enter your FPL username and password. thanks for the feedback. Mabe you can give it another go and you can contact me with any questions here. I want to help out the community here at FPL and make sure we can fix this so it can work for everyone.

****I just tried it now. you must make sure that the web address is copyied exactly. You must remove the quotes and the space before and after*****

I was having problems with my linksys pap2-na, 1) Whenever I press the on button on the telephone it would make a 3-4 quick beeps and then dial tone. Once I got dial tone I could make outgoing calls 2) However most distressing if someone called my FPL number the call went straight to the mail box. I called FPL support they said it was my router, needed to do some port forwarding. Tried that same problems. I found this post, followed the instructions which were quite excellent. Just remember to copy the address properly with no quotes and most importantly UNPLUG the Linksys ATA for 3-5 seconds then allow a complete REBOOT for 30 seconds.
I missed the UNPLUGGING part twice before i realized my mistake. Great work Sebastian. P.S. the FPL phone works perfect now no missed calls or beeps before dial tone. Thumbs up!

Hi,
I tried configuring my PAP2T and it worked the 1st time; however, because the phone line was in my way, I unplugged it and plugged it right back, I couldn't hear the dial tone since then. I have rebooted my router and the ATA adapter, this didn't help. I have reviewed my settings and they all looked good to me.

Now, I see your posting, I was wondering if you can give me some insight on what went wrong with my line. I want to know what the link is for? If I'm not with Bell, do I have to enter this link? What does the dialing plan do? I didn't enter it. Is it necessary?

Thanks,

Never mind, I have got it working now.

Wow that was the most confusing post ever lol but yes you must put in that link that's where all the settings are saved but I'm huessing you got it working... The dialing plan is how the actual ata dials eg 10 digits then sends the call. I wouldn't tamper with that unless you know what you are doing. If u used the config file then you should not have to change any settings.

If you really want to make this <b>real easy</b> replace everything starting with "Once you have your ip address for that ATA." ... and ending with "Wait about 10-30 secconds." with:

Once you have your ip address for that ATA, open a browser and type
http://ip_address/admin/resync?http://w ... ap2FPL.xml

All Good, but Strange Ring

Postby pitcritter » 10/25/2010

Thanks. This worked perfectly first time. Couldn't have been easier. There is one slightly strange thing though. My phone doesn't ring normally. It does ring, but it makes a strange chirping sound instead of what I'm used to.

As per instructions elsewhere, I've set up as follows:

Under “Ring and Call Waiting Tone Spec” category:
Ring Waveform: Sinusoid
Ring Frequency: 52
Ring Voltage: 90

The phone is a Uniden DECT 6 cordless, that's always worked perfectly with Vonage. It's really strange because the handset should generate it's own ring, or so I thought.

I did buy my PAP2 from eBay. It came from Asia, so it might have been provisioned for another country.

Ideas?

I made the xml file to configure all the nessessary changes to the linksys box. When you put in the website where the file is located, unplug the box, once power is pluged back in the box looks for the file and reads it. It configures the box to that file.(all recommended settings) then all you have to do is put in your user name and password so that the box can connect to your number. once that is done thats it.

Other posts here you have to manualy change everything. If you forget to change 1 thing the box will not regester with the server or wont call out/in. the file i made quickly changes everything.

and your welcome.

Everything sounds right. are you sure you didnt change the actual ringer on the phone. alot of phones have different ringers to choose from. a easy way to check is plug in a different phone.

your welcome

Had to use it twice. First time got "unable to connect to login server" message and the router assigned an IP address the light on the unit stayed off so no dial tone. Second try got same result but after several minutes the lan connection light came on and seems to be working fine. The only change I made in router config was enable a virtual FTP server.
