I have some questions

Postby cmasironi » 09/08/2016

I have been using Freephoneline for many years. I stated using it online and then I signed with FPL for internet and phone. Years later my internet was transferred to Worldline and I kept my frephonelineaccount. Now I want to upgrade my internet but I need to change ISP since I have the max Mbps Worldline can offer me on DSL. I want to know:
1) Do I have to buy a new VoIP Key? I already have one.
2) What ATA do you reccommend?
Is it too difficult to configure the ATA, as I read somewhere in the Forum? I'm not too techie but I'm not too bad either.
Thanks

If you already purchased SIP settings, you can use them on the new device.

As an ATA, Obihai seem to sell the best stuff. Newegg.ca usually sells one for less than $50 if you wait for the sales.

It is not difficult to configure an ATA, but it does take some work. If you get stuck, I am sure we will be able to help. Just read as much as you can beforehand.

Thanks. I'll ask if I need. I still don't know when I'll change ISP.

I'd like to know how are these ATA devices:
Cisco Spa112 2 Port Phone Adapter
Grandstream GS-HT701 Handytone 701 ATA Analog Telephone Adapter

The Obihai you told is this one:
Obihai OBi200 VoIP Telephone Adapter with Google Voice & SIP

Thanks

https://toao.net/25-linksys-ata-configuration (from Mango)
"We do not recommend the new SPA112 and SPA122. Though the SPA112 and SPA122 are sold by Cisco as successors to the PAP2T and SPA2102, the new devices are not built on the same technology as the old devices and have received poor reception in the community."

Grandstream GS-HT701 Handytone 701 ATA Analog Telephone Adapter

Neither have the powerful routing capacities or features of Obihai ATAs.

According to Webslinger on the RFD forums

"The HT701

- lacks powerful call routing options of Obihai ATAs
- lacks call bridging support/capacity for you to dial into the ATA or have it call you back and allow you to dial through it from a cellphone (this is great for cellular plans with tons of incoming minutes)
- only supports 1 SIP trunks/accounts (vs 4 sip trunks/accounts and 8 voice gateways)
- lacks free device to device calling
etc."

The OBi200 is currently on sale at Newegg.ca. I would agree that given the price difference, it doesn't make sense to get anything else for home use. For more information, visit http://forums.redflagdeals.com/newegg-o ... x-2046832/

I bought the OBi200. I received it yesterday. I'llconfigure it later today. If I have any problem I'll ask.

Thanks for the information

You can find a pretty comprehensive OBi200 configuration guide for Freephoneline at http://forums.redflagdeals.com/freephon ... #p26860980.

It's usually immediate in my experience. Other than checking your spam folders, you can submit a ticket: https://support.fongo.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
Do not select "Technical support" for the issue type.

You should also be able to see your SIP settings after logging in at https://www.freephoneline.ca/showSipSettings.
