HT-701 and EA6500

Postby Kexkey » 02/16/2013

Hi there,

Router : Cisco/Belkin Linksys EA6500
ATA : GrandStream HT-701

I configured the HT-701 following the instruction PDF found in this forum.

In the EA6500 config panel, there's an option called "SIP" with a nice checkbox that I checked, thinking how wonderful it is to have a router that supports SIP, simply. I was smiling, happy. I was wrong.

Problem #1 : When on a call, I could hear the other party but she couldn't hear me. Outgoing or incoming calls.
Solved : by unchecking the nice "SIP" checkbox in the router config.

Then problem #2 : I could not receive calls. When being called, the other party would hear a busy signal.
Solved : by checking the sexy "SIP" checkbox in the router config. I was expecting problem #1 to come back. You know what? I was wrong, again.

Then problem #3 : When calling, calls were dropped after exactly 32 seconds. Problem didn't exist for incoming calls.
Solved : by unchecking the fabulous and lovely "SIP" checkbox in the router config. I added port forwarding for ports 5060 and 5004 to the ATA.

It now works as expected! The Linksys EA6500 "Smart Wi-Fi" would surely be smart if there were no bugs in it.

Hope this helps others.

Cheers!
