Please provide SMS support to old freephoneline users

Can Fongo provide SMS to freephoneline customers as well? should we be treated equally?

Although back boned by Fongo, freephoneline.ca is a separate entity from Dell voice. As an example, Dell Voice is mainly designed to be a mobile app where as freephoneline is designed mainly to be used as home phone and does not offer a native mobile app.

Does this mean I cannot use the FONGO app? I have been trying to use it but cannot login.

You can't with your FPL details as such. You can use a sip phone with your FPL login details, but I am guessing you are more interested in texting, which isn't possible. You can however sign up for a new Fongo account and use that.

Not necessarily - I am interested in using my number through an application on my smartphone. is that possible?

You can not use an FPL on Fongo, nor vice versa. You will have to sign up for a new account on Fongo.

I apologize, but I am still navigating this technology.

I have a fongo account, I do not have any association with freephoneline.ca . The main use of the VoIP is through home phone, but I am desirous of finding an app for android which can support using the VoIP information by phone. I am sure one exists - it must be simply a matter of getting enough information about my line.

I understand there is also a computer application that does the same thing? Could someone furnish the link to that program? Thanks, Jesse

Freephoneline and Fongo are basically backed by the same system. It's just how customers get to interact and use the system that differs.

With Fongo you have two option (at the moment). One is to use the system via an ATA as your home phone, the other is to use their App for Android or iDevice.

With FPL you can use their desktop software (you will get to download it once you have set up your account), or the other option is to buy the config file (unlock key) for 50$. This basically allows you o connect to the system using your own ATA or SIP client. This could either be a softphone on your computer, a built in SIP client on Android, or a 3rd part SIP softphone.

One of the big differences is testing. You can only text through the Fongo app. You can sign up for a FPL account for free, there are no fees to pay unless you want to buy their config file, port a number, or call an area not covered by their free call areas.

Hope some of this helps, but I would suggest to head over to FPL and sign up for an account. This will probably tell you more than I can by actually seeing it.
