Suggestions for the texting feature

Post by wisobe »

Hi Fongo,

First of all thanks for adding texting to Dell Voice. I love it and use it on a daily basis. I hope the following suggestions will make it even better.

1) Could you try implementing the landscape mode while typing. This makes typing messages so much easier.
2) It seems like the shortcuts used for the emoticons do not match other operating systems. Some emoticons that I send to an Android device is not being recognized. Is there a standard for this?
3) Could you please add a counter to know if I reach 160 characters? This off course could be turned on or off in the settings.
4) Every message has a timestamp. However, the timestamp used is the one when I opened the app to check my messages and not the real time at which the message has been send. If I don't know the time at which the message was originally send, there is no use showing the time. :-)

Thanks upfront for thinking about it.

All good points, especially #4

I would also like to see the text input to be more than just one line high, it seems just a tad awkward to read the message you are typing when you can only see a bit of it. It is fine if you are just saying hello, but not so good when you are tying a longer message. Maybe a growing input box would work better?

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your message. I found something else that could be improved:

I usually type in French. Unfortunately all special characters like é, è, à, etc ... are replaced with squares. It would be nice to have the real characters. :-)

Thanks upfront!

French canadian SMS gets unknow character in them. Seems like UTF is not used to transfer messages in the system!
That would be a good idea to use it, no?

On iPhone swipe to the left, you'll get a DELETE icon.

Correct, on the individual text message, swipe your finger from right to left on the text, the option to delete will come up
