As soon as I turn off airplane mode, I don't get a list of missed calls

You would have to check your call logs to get a list of any missed calls.

AFAIK, "airplane mode" disables all transmissions/receptions from your phone, basically turning it into a handheld contact manager, game platform etc.

Well put.

While in airplane mode, you essentially end up to the same as being logged out.

You can have airplane mode on an iPhone and at the same time enable wifi and it should still ring when connected to wifi.

I read his question as more along of the lines of wanting to know when someone had called when he was in airplane mode. The only way I could think of was to check the online logs.

From the way the OP was written I think he knows what happens when he goes into airplane mode.

And why woould'nt dell voice retrieve that list of missed calls automatically and show the real time of the missed calls?

It's a good question, and considering the way DV works (ie it could easily not be connected because of no wifi/3g) it would be a very useful thing for it to do.

I honestly have no idea to the answer to this question, but does a normal cell phone show what calls were missed if, say, you ave your phone turned off or no signal? I know mine never used to, and now making phone calls is probably the last thing my smartphone is used for now so I am not sure if it does now or not.

None of mine do --- if they are not active on the network, they have no way of knowing that they missed a call. If it hits voicemail, the BILL (ie: call log) will show it, but the handset itself as it has no signal at the time, will not show missed calls when it is OFF, searching for service, airplane mode, etc.

Confusion over Airplane Mode

Post by TheHardy »

I do not have a tablet ... but to me, AIRPLANE MODE seems to be counter-indicated with actively transmitting/receiving WIFI signals -- how are WIFI signals different from the cellular/satellite signals that AIRPLANE mode usually denies?? I am truly confused now. Not owning a tablet, I cannot check any manuals, and I really honestly cannot be bothered to search the web randomly to look one up. If a tablet owner could clarify on this, I would love to hear an answer!

not to sure how much of an effect it will have on the plane, but i do know that more a more of them are now offering on-board in-flight Wi-Fi service.

The whole debate about cell signals and stuff disrupting aircraft electronics has been a bone of contention for a long time. How much affect it has, as you say, is debatable. It has been a long time since I have been airborne, but I know that things are always evolving! :-)

Then again, back at the topic, we know that the software still has a few kinks in it ...
