Fongo Connection Failed

Hi there,

Lately I've been getting the red phone icon with the "x" and the message Fongo Connection Failed - Click to Retry. Before it would reconnect on it's own but I'm finding it more and more that it just stays disconnected. This happened on my girlfriend's Samsung Galaxy S almost all the time and I had to reconnect it.

On her phone, I would click several times and it wouldn't connect most of the time. It wouldn't even go to the green icon showing that it is at least trying to reconnect. Once it a while it would reconnect after clicking on it. Most I would have to kill the app and re-run it to get it to connect or just re-run the dell app.

Now I'm doing this same thing for myself when I catch that dell voice isn't connected. This is happening on a Samsung Galaxy Tab and Samsung Galaxy Nexus if that makes a difference. I really never had a problem with it automatically connecting but lately I'm finding that it's stuck on being disconnected. Is this a network issue with Fongo where my phone/tablet is having a hard time connecting to the network?

This becomes a problem when I'm not aware it's disconnected and it doesn't reconnect on it's own since calls won't come in. Thanks for any help.

This happens to me often as well...
DV is really unreliable lately.

I install and signup last Sunday, so it is exactly 1 week. There were no issue for the whole week until last night (Sat. Nov. 10). The app just keep failing to connect to Fongo. The issue still exist whole day today (Sun. Nov. 11).

Every time I checked, my wifi, 3G, H+ and network connection works, but DV just fail to connect to Fongo.

I was considering to buy the text service on DV. But will have to wait till this network issue is fix.

Fongo should have some official posting about this situation.

If it is a network issue, they should have a notice somewhere. The weird thing is, my phone and tablet are now connected, but my mom's phone can't even connect no matter what I do. And they are all right beside each other. It seems like a hit or miss.

Last night when I was with my friend, I had connection with Fongo for awhile, while my friend couldn't connect at all. Then mine stay disconnected later too.

Im also getting this issue. Seems like its a dv issue as of last few days.

Thanks.

Dell Voice is now working on my phone and tablet. Is the problem really fixed? I was able to connect yesterday as well, just that it didn't always stay connected and if it disconnected, it wouldn't always reconnect.

I guess I'll have to keep an eye out as I'm not sure what the problem was and if it was fixed.

Yes, the issue should be fixed. there should be an update on our end to help ensure it does not happen again.

For a moment it seems it wasn't fixed as I was disconnected yet again and couldn't reconnect. So far it's connected.

9:43 on Tuesday morning and can't connect - getting connection failed message. I have backed out, exited and logged back in but nothing is working.

Why am I not surprised? The "good" thing is that the service is free and works MOST OF THE TIME! It's just not as reliable anymore as it used to be! How many calls have I missed? Who knows?

Could it be that the Fongo servers need a hardware upgrade to handle "unprecedented" subscriber growth? I really hope so.


I would be worried if Robellus had signed up thousands of free accounts and have diallers to call their own numbers, thus earning termination fees for themselves with the ultimate intent of putting the Fongo servers to their knees.


It had been very stable for me since I had this service more than 2 years ago...until a few weeks back. :( Oh, well! I'll enjoy it while it lasts!

I'm using an iPad 3iOS 6.0.1 and always get click to retry message even though there is a green light beside the data button. I'm on the Rogers 3G network. Fongo works great over wifi. Thanks.

Been having this issue as well on Droid. Pull up taskbar, green icon "Connecting.." then suddenly connection failed. Cleared data, logged out, reset phone... Persists..


Beginning to regret porting over my number and purchasing text feature.

Yes, I can confirm I'm having this problem yet again. Dell voice on my phone, my tablet, both my parents, and brothers aren't working. I'm not sure but doesn't seem like it's very dependable. Good thing it's for free and not our main line.

I got the same problem with my Samsung Galaxy Ace since last update. I couldn't connect to server whatever I did. I am glad i did not port my main line to fongo.

I can confirm that I've been having this problem over the past week now. Thought it'd get better but got so bad I thought I'd sign up for this forum. "Fongo Connection Failed - Click to retry". If I am lucky enough to get a connection, when I try to re-send a failed SMS message, the Fongo icon immediately turns red on me and I have to try re-connecting again. Unfortunately, this is my main line. I purchased the voicemail and texting packages hoping that it'd help Dell or Fongo or whoever pay for costs somehow so that they can improve their service.
I hope this gets fixed soon, but thanks for the great ride I've had so far.

i'm having the same problem. the Fongo connectio failed, click to retry. When I click, it retry and it mostly reconnected again. I wish it would auto retry and stay connected. this is very annoying that I have to manually retry.
i'm using android samsung galaxy nexus 4.2.1, openvpn tunneling.

fongo is the lastest from google play. Version 2.0.4.23

from fongo setting, there is no option to check auto retry or the limit of retries.
