Voicemail Greeting not saving/ or playing

Post by rougy1 »

Just signed up with Fongo Mobile on my iPhone and personal greeting won't save. After pressing # to save greeting, automaton cycles back to menu select default greeting etc
End result is personal greeting does not save. Seem this is an old issue so am curious why it still happens and why there is no clear support to fix this already?!

I've moved your post to the Fongo Mobile forum.

Did you test afterwards by calling your Fongo Mobile number?

Saving a personal greeting using an iPhone with Fongo Mobile works without issue.

Dial *98. Select 3,3,2,and 2. Record greeting. Then press #, listen to your message, and finally press # again to save the message.
End the call.

Then test by calling your Fongo Mobile number from a different number and allow the Fongo Mobile voicemail system to answer the call. You should hear your personalized voicemail.
I do.

After pressing # the first time, if you don't hear your message played back to you, then you may be dealing with a SIP ALG issue,
Visit https://www.voip-info.org/routers-sip-alg/, and read the section under SIP ALG Problems, which can affect users on Wi-Fi who use routers
or modem/router combos (or gateways, especially Hitron gateways issued by Rogers and other ISPs) with a buggy SIP ALG feature. If you are unable to disable SIP ALG
in your router, in the Fongo Mobile app, navigate to Account-->Settings-->Troubleshooting-->Alternate Fongo Connection. Enable Alternate Fongo Connection.

Hitron CGN series gateway modem/router combos (from Rogers, Shaw, or another ISP) or any modem/router combo from any ISP with SIP ALG forced on

If you don’t have your own router, and if you can’t get someone from Rogers or your ISP to disable SIP ALG for you in their modem/router combo, try enabling Alternate Fongo Connection as described above.

Hitron CGN3ACSMR and CODA-4582 series gateway modem/router combos from Rogers (and possibly other ISPs)
Open your web browser, and login at 192.168.0.1. Default username is cusadmin.
Select the “Basic” tab and disable “SIP ALG.” Click the “save changes” button.

If your voice message still isn't being recorded, try adjusting microphone volume in the Fongo Mobile app (under Troubleshooting).

For general VoIP usage, since you're new to Fongo Mobile, I suggest reading the preamble or the first four pages of this PDF guide: http://forum.fongo.com/viewtopic.php?f= ... 805#p73839. That information applies to when you're on Wi-Fi. Every time "ATA" is mentioned, replace "ATA" in your mind with "iPhone", since that's what you're using. Point #6 on page 3 can be (somewhat) ignored.
