Fongo Home audio very loud

Postby intermedion » 11/30/2017

The audio volume on my Fongo Home phone is very loud, even when I set it the phone to minimal volume.
Where are the Fongo Home settings that allow me to adjust the volume? What can I do to reduce the volume?

Hi

Just subscribed to fongo home phone and experiencing same problem and wondering if there is a solution.
The volume on home phone is very loud compared to bell before.

I also didn't disable sip alg yet on router.
Will be doing that soon as just read that is a good thing to do with voip services.

What else could be giving me high volume on fongo home phone.

I lowered the volume on my phone receiver but in general its very high.

Any settings i need to change?

Thanks

SIP ALG can affect ATA registration and cause 1-way audio issues, but SIP ALG does not affect volume.

TX gain setting in the Grandstream HT-801 ATA

Any settings i need to change?

The problem is that I've never used Fongo Home Phone and don't know whether settings are locked out or eventually overwritten by Fongo's provisioning server anyway.

I'm not sure whether this is the login process for Fongo Home Phone provisioned Grandstream ATAs:
1 Dial ***
b) Then dial 02
c) Enter the IP address you hear into a web browser.
d) Login to your ATA.

Default login password is admin

That's usually the process for logging into unlocked Grandstream ATAs.

2. Navigate to FXS Port tab-->Gain: TX

The default is 0. You can try lowering it.

Loudest volume: +6dB Lowest volume:-6dB

Maybe try -3dB. If that's still too loud, try -6dB for TX gain. Find a value that works for you.

3. Then click "Apply" and "Reboot" if those options exist.

Again, I have no idea whether the TX gain setting is adjustable for Fongo Home Phone users or whether whatever you enter there will just revert back to what Fongo's provisioning server has that value set to (if any).

If that doesn't work, then submit a ticket: https://support.fongo.com/hc//requests/new.

Thank you Liptonbrisk,

I will try that. I personally have FPL and have no issues.
I fongo home phone subscribed for elderly parents.
So far she likes it but just noticed that the volume is loud.

I will try that but not sure if I have access to changes I too figure it might be locked by fongo.

I was trying to avoid sending an email.
Plus she doesnt have her own router . She has the one modem router from her isp. I can disable the sip alg on it so will do that as well.Always a good thing for VoIP anyway.

Thanks.

You may have no other choice.

Support staff appear to indicate that customers don’t have access. (Well, actually, I'm pretty sure there is a way, but I'll respect Fongo's decision here, particularly since the provisioning link makes changing settings yourself potentially useless anyway if they're overwritten):

I ported my home phone number from a previous company to Fongo and recently got my Grandstream HT-801 from Fongo last week. I followed the instructions from an email they sent me and when I tried to type in the password which was 'admin' it did not work.

I emailed support and got a reply that customers do not have access to it.

Anyway, good luck!
