411 Service now available!

Post by FONGO_steve »

We are happy to announce the official availability of 411 service to all freephoneline subscribers.

411 is $0.75 per use (not per minute).

Good thing, and it's again cheaper than Bell!

But what if we don't have any LD voucher bought ($0,00 in account)?

If you have no funds on your account, you will hear an error: 'Your account balance is insufficient to place your call to that destination'.

I see this partly defeating the business model of Freephoneline, but what were your thoughts on a post-paid solution, linking to a pre-authorized credit card or direct-debit similar to Paypal?

We are thinking of this for the future, yes. Also, though it does dissolve part of the 'free' from 'freephoneline', it is optional whether or not you use it - Come to think of it, not many have in complained in the past 3.5 years we didn't have it ;)

The basic service is still free, of course.

The difference here is you dial 411 on the phone and instead of getting an error you now get redirected to a 411 response service; likewise on the software when you dial 411 it no longer opens www.411.ca but dials it in the web pages place.

I believe the premise of 411 is having someone do the work for you ;)

A lot of people were adding a 411 command to their dial-string which would ring Google's 411 service as well I recall... but this cannot be an official model of Freephoneline due to the rights of use.

Also it's hardly a complete listing... but it can be fun to play with on a rainy night.
