[Resolved] Please tell your CSR to stop calling me!

Post by Mazzie »

This morning I received a phone call form a CSR, she was very determined to sell me one of your ATA's and she asked me if I had a home phone line. I explained to her that I did not require a home phone line and that I do not currently have one. I do not need one and really did not need to pay out $149 for this ATA. She said that I could get one for only $99 plus taxes and that was all. After she repeated herself numerous times trying to sell me one of these, eventually I gave in and said OK and gave her my credit card details. However, I did feel very coerced by her and I was not at all happy about the situation.

After she had my credit card details this CSR told me that I now had to pay $20 shipping, plus taxes for FEDEX delivery. $134.47 might seem a trivial amount to most people and it's not that much to me either, but I was annoyed because she told me that it was only $99, now all of a sudden I have to pay $20 shipping for something I really didn't want or need anyways. I told her that I was not paying for shipping and told her to cancel my order. She still kept trying to sell me this thing that I didn't want or need and it was only after I insisted in a very strong manner that she cancel and told her that she had better not charge my credit card that she eventually relented and said that she would not charge my credit card and that the order would be canceled.

After speaking to this CSR I decided to come here and found a thread titled "Horrible Treatment So Far" I read that thread and discovered apparently that you need a dry loop. Nothing was said to me by this CSR about any dry loop and I don't know if I need one or not, but as I don't have a home phone line I suspect that I might need a dry loop and I would not want to pay out for something else.

Since the intial phone call, your CSR has called me 5 times and I have not answered her calls. Please tell them to stop calling me and make sure that she does not charge my credit card as I DO NOT want an ATA. If I had known I was going to get all this hassle I would not have signed up for an account here.

The service you are providing is admirable for those who want it. However, you need to train your CSR's not to keep pestering people if they say no. I felt completely railroaded and as an ex-business owner myself, that is not how I would choose to do business.

I've worked in Telemarketing and if they keep calling, for sales reasons, it's telemarketing.

Don't avoid picking up... They will keep calling..

Pick up and simply say..

"I'M NOT INTERESTED, PLEASE TAKE ME OFF YOUR LIST, and STOP CALLING MY NUMBER"

Legally they are required to STOP CALLING.

Not picking up, especally with autodialers will keep them calling.

As well, simply saying NOT INTERESTED is not good enough... you need to say
"take me off your list". At that point, they legally have to and will if they don't want action taken against them.

I've only had one telemarketing company who did not comply with this. I filed a complaint and they lost their phone lines for repeated offences. They ended up out of business shortly after.

I would say this is a good way of getting this done, I wouldn't suggest yelling of course but if you ask us to put you on our Do-Not-Call list, it will (and must) be done.

I will request that any further inquiries (regarding the do not call list) be PM'd to Steve or I.
