Lower the price on ATA

I can puchase the unit locally for $52.00.

I would like to give FPL my business, however as I understand things, it will cost me $70 plus $20 shipping to order the same item from you. I think you need to consider lowering your price. Folks looking at your services are wanting to maximize their hard earned dollars, and might not be willing to throw away $50.

I understand the only benefits are that the unit is pre-configured. Is that why it's $50 more?

I don't have problem in asking fr lowering the price. But FPL has to make some money.
They are not banning anybody who purchased ATA from outside. Like mine costed only CAN$35/-
They are allowing people to Buy ATA from outside and use it. Not like Rogers
They are giving free Line for life( I ASS-U-ME). So why not just ask ATA for free?
I am not agent for FPL...BUT...I hate when people want more even when something is given free.
But that's just me. May be they can pay $15 per month and get free ATA like other ISPs.
Aaaaaaaaahh. That feels good.
Yey Its TGIF.

Keep in mind that many large chain stores will buy quantities large enough to fill our entire office with nothing but ATAs - thus making them cheaper. Frontier PC said they have 9999 available, so they're obviously getting a great deal on buying large numbers of them. We don't have the office space right now to store those quantities of ATAs so we have to buy smaller shipments and not save quite as much.
They are preconfigured, which we do ourselves manually, and like mjbad2 said; we are providing you free phone service for life so your initial ATA purchase helps us to cover the costs associated with the ATA itself and the extra, small, profit goes into furthering system development and making this a better service so we don't have to charge you monthly bills!

We certainly do not mind if you buy your own ATA to use on our service. However, keep in mind we only provide support for the ATAs we sell.

I have also passed your concern on to the appropriate department for consideration.

Thanks Steve.

mjbad2, you suggest I am in the wrong here.... while at the same time you did not buy your ATA from FPL. I have no problem paying for service and plan to pay... Pehaps the config docs should be $90 so the ATAs can be a more reasonable $50.

I have just passed your entire comment on to my superiors, and also given them several suggestions on pricing ideas as well. We'll see if anything comes of it in the future :)

Thanks again for the feedback

I think your missing my point. Smartoakville, did you buy your ATA from FPL..... if not move on.. nothing to see here. Your the pot, I am the kettle.

Again Steve, thanks for seeing what I see as an issue. Since I am interested in having VoIP over the short term, I plan to buy elsewhere, even though I would have preferred support FPL, I am not willing to pay extra to do so. It would make better sence to get out of the business of selling ATA if you cannot compete and let folks buy elsewhere. In turn, charge more of the config docs and help anyone with an ATA who needs help with set up.
