While the BudPhone application is meant to do the legwork for you by picking and choosing and access number using the power of the SmartPhone it runs on ... at a more barebones level why not let the rest of us (with older mobile devices) take advantage of the numbers:
-Publish list of access numbers
-Allow us to add our authorized tel numbers to our accts. (cell phone, home phone ... etc.)
-Users call number local to them
-You can then allow access to the "calling" gateway based on CID as you do with Budphone.
Offer the Budphone access numbers to the FPL community...

I would hazard a guess as to why they won't do this. They won't be able to stuff the branding in your face every time you make a call. How can you forget about Bud when you see it every time you make a long distance call? That must be priceless to them.

Jake's guess is dead on.
The Bud Phone service is run in partnership with Budweiser. In exchange for minimal advertising in their smartphone application, we're able to fund the free calling we're giving away in Canada. Perhaps in future the service will be adopted to non-smartphone users - we will certainly keep this point in mind!

An idea is for non-smartphone users is to play a short 5 second ad (e.g. "Call by Budweiser + tagline... connecting you now!").
I know it's paranoid but it just worries me what Budweiser is "actually" going to do with my this personal phone info!

Re: Offer the Budphone access numbers to the FPL community..
Everytime you place a call, the Budphone application could say "WASSsuuuuuuuup" and then connect the call. That would not be annoying at all.
Re: Offer the Budphone access numbers to the FPL community..
That would drive me crazy, but I know I'd grow to love it! lol
The point though is that Budweiser is paying $$$, and if they want to be annoying, it's their choice... they're marketing to people who would drink more Budweiser, that's the whole ponit.
