Hi guys I recently bought the sip settings and the quality of the codec used there is a lot of hiss in the background, and sometimes the call I can not hear well the person, is not my internet connection, I have 7.5 Mbits down and 1Mbit up, I have used other voip services with no Issues whatsoever, Pls check into it, I know the service is still young but I cant have a phone line in my home that 3 out of 10 calls the quality of the voice is that low

codec of sip settings
Re: codec of sip settings
1) check your QoS settings on the router! Make sure to prioritize port 6060, 13000, and 13001. It will fix the problem.
2) Use codec g729a. If you use a linksys router make sure to check 'yes' for using preferred codec only.

Re: codec of sip settings
The following are the settings you need to make your adaptor work: (Things in italics are sometimes optional)
ATA:
Codec = G729a
RTP Packet Size = 0.020
Register Expires = 180
Ring Voltage = 90
Ring Frequency = 52
Router:
For ATAs - UDP 5060 (line 1) and UDP 5061 (line 2) must be open
For Softphone - UDP 13000 and UDP 13001 must be open
Things to note: If your adaptor has incorrect time settings (as is frequently the case in newly purchased Linksys PAP2T-NA devices) you will need to update these settings. The settings we use are:
(Under Regional) Time Zone = "start=3/8/7/2:00;end11/1/7/2:00;save=1"
(Under Regional) Time Offset = "GMT -5:00"
(Under System) Primary NTP Server = "time.nist.gov"
(Under System) Secondary NTP Server = "time.windows.com"
All other SIP detail require the purchase of a configuration file for $50 via credit card when you call an agent.
