Is it telling you that you have insufficient funds when you try calling the number?

Re: Cannot call victoria

The individual exchange might not be added in our rate plan, I believe we encountered an issues like this in the past.

**Update: 1250900 looks to be in our rate plan at $0.02 /minute and was actually just added on Tuesday. Prior to that we didn't even offer calling to that exchange.

Not al of Canada is free. In certain cases, if a number falls into a free exchange and we have not added it yet, then yes it becomes free. However, it is advertised as Most Canadian city's.
For more specific in regards to the free calling locations, please use this link: http://www.dellvoice.ca/cityListing

My phone number is a St. John's number (709-700xxxx) but not free either but it is not a problem as I
rarely call myself. On the other hand I often call my nephew (709-437-xxxx) and that number is also not free.
Still, I am glad to see that St. John's has some coverage.

so kris and mike... are you saying that only some of victoria is free... thats not how its advertised... its listed as a FREE CALLING CITY. not CITY THAT HAS SOME FREE EXCHANGES

What are the free exchanges in victoria then... and Kelowna for that matter.

That is the odd thing about freephoneline. Why not
(a) Provide a list of the numbers (area codes) for which DIDs are available before registration?
(b) Why not provide a list of the numbers (area codes) that can be called free?
and keep it up to date. Both lists already exist so it should not be a big deal to make something readily
available.
In recent years the meaning of the word "Free" seems to have been changing and often means anything but free.
At least with FPL, what is free really is free.

St. John's is a FREE CALLING CITY but I did not have to call many numbers to find some not free (including my own!). But those that
are free are really free. Kelona 250-469 and Victoria 250-412 .... work so I guess Kelona an Victoria have "FREE CALLING".

Well this list will give you a list of what you will be charged http://www.dellvoice.ca/completeList?country=CANADA (careful, it will take a while to load). Now, there is some discrepancy about if that list is correct or not. There always seems to be a number or two that come as as being not free, when it should be free.

A list was posted by Admin (now Fongo_Kris) a LONG time back - which I can no longer find, but this was the list then of numbers available. I know for sure this is not up to date as there are a few new Vancouver, and other, numbers.

All Fongo subscribers can call one another for free - we certainly would never limit that!

i was just reading the Dellvoice Terms and conditions. http://www.dellvoice.ca/terms . Section 4 paragraph G reads "Long distance calls are free when Customer is calling to Fongo’s Free Calling city list. For a current listing of Free Calling cities please check www.dellvoice.ca/cityListing. In no way can that be read as only some exchanges in the free calling cites are actually free...

Can a Fongo rep give a straight answer to why I cant call a number in victoria when victoria is listed as a free calling city... and hopefully just fix the problem.

This thread is really starting to digress into several sub-conversations - likely why we've missed the original point

The original report was for 250-400 NPA-NXX. This exchange belongs to the Cumberland, BC rate centre and not actually Victoria, BC (neither appear to be a local call to/from each other either). Regardless, Cumberland is a free call and according to our systems this exchange is currently marked as $0.00/min.

If you're still having troubles calling this exchange then your best bet is going to be calling or emailing to customer support. Anything systems related is unable to be looked into by our general community here (excluding any of the staff who come on to help like Mike and I).
