Thank you very much for the reply.

I am using a Bell router/modem and having hard time disabling SIP ALG and how to bridge.

I also tried the port forward but didn't work. maybe there is something wrong with the way I configure it.

If SIP ALG/SPI is enabled your Bell Hub, you will need to contact Bell to disable it. But the person you speak to will likely be clueless.

You don't need to use bridge mode unless you have your own router: http://forums.redflagdeals.com/please-s ... r-1993629/

maybe there is something wrong with the way I configure it.

1. For primary SIP Server, use voip4.freephoneline.ca:6060 (this attempts to circumvent faulty SIP ALGs in routers)

2. For local SIP port use 53211 (using a high random port helps to thwart SIP scanners and may also help circumvent a faulty SIP ALG feature in a router)

3. Lastly, send in a ticket: https://support.fongo.com/hc/en-us/requests/new and ask for "forced registration" to see if that helps.

4. Port fowarding is a security risk and should only be done if all else fails first. If you must port forward, you need to forward whatever RTP (UDP) port(s) (from your router to the LAN IP of your ATA) your ATA uses.
I cannot assist you with port forwarding. Contact Bell.

The setup guide is located here: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=16338

Beyond that, I'm out of suggestions.

Hello,

I received your email. I don't respond to help requests via PM nor email for a couple of reasons. The first reason is that no one else can learn unless you post on the forums, and the second reason is I don't work for Freephoneline or Fongo. I've also never used your ATA.

My understanding is that you have a Grandstream HT701 ATA and a Bell 2500 router.

1. Firmware 1.0.8.2 is the latest firmware version for your ATA currently.
http://www.grandstream.com/sites/defaul ... .0.8.2.zip

2. Firmware upgrade guide is found at
http://www.grandstream.com/sites/defaul ... _Guide.pdf

3. The Freephoneline HT701 setup guide is located at
viewtopic.php?f=15&t=16292
Check your settings in the .pdf guide.

4. Do what Mango wrote. "Once the new firmware is installed, set SIP REGISTER Contact Header Uses to WAN address."

5. Do what mh1983 wrote: Set "Enable SIP Options Keep-Alive" to "Yes."

Beyond that, I am out of suggestions.

Hi,

I'm getting device not registered today, in spite of several reboots. Config is the same on my HT701 and haven't had a downtime in a long time.

I see that status.fongo.com shows a potential server issue but in Sault Ste Marie. Might this affect the one my ATA is registering to? (voip4...)

TIA

And the 5th reboot (from the UI, not a power cycle) did the trick? Really mystifying.

Sorry to clutter this thread up, but the registration issues persisted. I just went ahead and factory reset my ATA and went slowly went through the reconfig in Jake/Val's manual + Mango's 1.0.7.2 pointer + the 1.0.8.2 pointer that Fongo provided. All's well now and I've been registered to voip4 for a few hours.

No idea what step was wrong or "off" in my previous config, but there's something to be said for starting again from scratch, if all else fails. It took roughly 5 minutes and seemed to be time well spent.

My HT701 fails to register once again. After I did the config from scratch on Oct 17, everything's been fine since -- until today. FWIW using a SIP client on my phone works perfectly on the same connection.

I don't want to keep redoing config like this and not know how long it'll stick for. I follow as best I can the recommendations in these threads and the PDF config to t letter. This is getting quite frustrating.

Any other suggestions? Thanks.

I'm wondering if some of my interval settings are incorrect. I matched them to the latest PDF in the forums, but that document doesn't cover the failed registration retry interval. The default value is 20 seconds.

However, see: http://support.freephoneline.ca/hc/en-u ... /212430746

I've attached a screenshot with my timer settings. Do the retry settings seem off?

Yes.SIP registration failure retry wait time (the first one) should be 120.

If your ATA makes more than 5 registration attempts within 5 minutes, you'll be temporarily IP banned from the Freephoneline server you were attempting to register with.

Thanks, Lipton, for your help here! Hopefully that was the bad setting and I'm sorted here.

The info's not called out in the screenshot/text of the PDF. Might be good to provide an updated version (is it okay to volunteer to do so? I can take this on as time permits.)

Failed registration retry interval only matters if registration fails initially.

So the question you should be asking yourself is why is registration failing?

Is your internet connectivity dropping frequently? That's an ISP issue.
If your internet service then returns, it's possible that your router may
keep a corrupted NAT connection open. In some cases rebooting your modem, router, and ATA
in that order can help to reset the connection.

Are you constantly turning off your modem and router before going to sleep?
If so, when you wake up, the proper device startup order is modem-->router (wait about 5 minutes)-->ATA.

Also, even if you don't have an OBi200/202, the preamble in the guide over here contains good general info:

Exactly. It's the only question I've been asking lately. :) Re: what's reported here, I just mean that there appears to be a gap/mismatch between the HT-701 doc and the Fongo KB link. Your response confirmed that. I also suspect something related to the ATA because a SIP client on the same network/same setup works just fine.

Is your internet connectivity dropping frequently? That's an ISP issue.

Not at all -- quite the contrary. Teksavvy DSL has been rock solid -- the only downtimes I've experienced since 2012 are a few maintenance windows and a power grid related downtime (I can count them on both hands).

I have a combo TP-Link modem/router that has been quite reliable but presumably isn't the greatest option for FPL/VoIP. I hope to get a standalone router at some point when funds allow, and will make sure I pick a recommended option.

Even still, at the risk of a cliched response, I go for months at a time without registration issues and my config doesn't change (except for the last month, due to the need to troubleshoot this issue).

Are you constantly turning off your modem and router before going to sleep?

Interesting point. I do have my modem/router/ATA connected to a timer that reboots nightly at around 3 am EST. I don't have it set up such that the modem/router comes back on, and then the ATA 5 minutes afterwards. I'll have to look into setting up this behaviour with two timers.

Also, even if you don't have an OBi200/202, the preamble in the guide over here contains good general info:
http://www.filedropper.com/obihaiobi20x119

Thanks for the link. I've seen that general info posted around, but I'll make sure I keep it handy.

With some routers, it takes awhile before they're fully up and running, and if the ATA is up and running before the router, sometimes a NAT connection issue can occur.
The bottom line is that it's generally a good idea to have both the modem and the router fully up and running before the ATA is turned on.

Hi,

Haven't had registration/connection issues for quite some time. Just noticed today that my ATA is not registered to voip.freephoneline.ca.

I did the usual troubleshooting, checked steps, rebooted, etc. Changed to the voip4 server to possibly bypass a bad SIP ALG connection. In all cases, the ATA doesn't reregister.

Anyone else having connection problems at the moment?

UPDATE: Checked the status page and see that there's a service outage!

Trouble @ HT702 Grandstream. Software version Program -- 1.0

Postby shaan » 02/10/2017

Dear users/ technician

i have been using freephone line more than 3 years in Grand stream HT702 (software version Program -- 1.0.8.2 ( just updated firmware) ). it was working fine until yesterday. in this ATA adapter there are two ports for two different phone numbers. i was using just port 1 because i had only one phone number. yesterday i purchase another voip unlock key from freephoneline to activate another home phone number on port 2 of my Adapter. i messed up both port due to lack of practice and experience. now my existing phone also doesnot work. i can not make outgoing call from my exiting phone line. it says THAT PASSWORD IS NOT VALID . i can call from my cell phone to home and it works but outgoing call says that password is not valid.

usually i keep copy of configuration in my laptop which i have lost. i dont know what are the latest parameter to set for my Adaptor. can some body please help me to configure my Adapter. i want to configure both my port because i have purchase recently another phone number ( voip unlock key) .
please help

Once you port a phone number to FPL, your SIP username changes. Please log into both of your Freephoneline accounts and verify that you're using the proper SIP usernames and passwords from https://www.freephoneline.ca/showSipSettings.

The configuration guides for your ATA are located at viewtopic.php?f=15&t=16344

The latest firmware for your ATA can be found here: http://www.grandstream.com/support/firmware
