No Incoming or outgoing calls

Post by mikron15 »

Hello,

As of 9.50pm today, I can no longer make outgoing calls. I get a dial-tone and dial the number but it's dead air afterwords. I have noticed since yesterday the call quality degraded a lot with a couple of dropped calls. Today evening was even worse with bad call quality ( choppy words, sound going in and out) around 8.30 and finally the call dropped at 9.30pm while speaking to other party. I have tried dialing couple of numbers but call doesn't go through.

My Linksys PAP-2t shows no abnormal functionality i.e proper flashing lights, registration state online.

Here's my tracert:

Same problem here. Except I have no status lights on the PAP2T and correspondingly no dial tone.
I'm in the London area.

Hopefully clears up soon.

Thanks!

Freephoneline SIP gateway down/failing?

Post by Liptonbrisk »

My ATA device is suddenly unable to register as of 21:47 EST on Sept. 23, 2010. It was working perfectly fine most of the day (and for months, really).

Freephoneline registration servers failing? SIP gateway down?

Mine was working fine yesterday, I got home tonite and nothing but dead air. I've rebooted the ata and same thing, dead air.
Might be a system outage. I'm in K/W area. Sucks because you can't even call support.

Yes! Confirmed! As of right now, 7:29PM (Pacific Time), freephoneline server is down. Both incoming & outgoing calls get fast busy signal. This is what happens when something is "FREE". Can't expect too much guys.

Ditto here. I dont use freephone very much but when I do, it's down. Freephone is becoming less reliable as time goes on. No stickies on the front page about the outage coupled with the poor forum lay out (which forum has SAVE as the default action and instead of SUBMIT)? Looks like I will be biting the bullet and going with skype and google. At least skype and google are reliable. I have given freephone enough opportunity to improve. Ciao!

I have just started using the VOIP system for my phoneline service. I have no yet tried enabling the Follow Me feature. Will this work in general? Will this work now, with the system down?

I have the 'Follow Me' setup to fwd calls to my cell if ata is offline. Sadly for the last 2-3 outages FPL had , it never forwarded the calls to my cell. In that respect, my primus Talkbroadband "backup number" always (95%) fwded the calls to my cell when they had issues.

Hey Admin,

I guess when it's free (or practically free), we cannot complain too much.
What's the nature of this and many other outrages? I'd really like to know whether these outrages could be made predictable. If not, then what's the problem? Software, hardware? Quite frankly, if $$ is the problem, I don't think it's unreasonable to charge something. If the quality and consistency go up, I personally have no problem to pay a bit...

That's my 2 cents...
