Those aren't calls (usually). They're SIP scanners. Bots,crackers/hackers, or scammers are looking (scanning ports) for ways to break into your services and devices; this process causes the ringing to occur with caller ids that appear as 1001, 999, etc.

Are you port forwarding from the router to your computer or using DMZ? Don't port forward unless you have no other choice. Doing that is a security risk. Disable any port forwarding in the router to the computer on your LAN, especially UDP port 5060. If you find disabling port forwarding creates 1-way audio issues (or other weird problems), try disabling SIP ALG in your router (and if your router was issued your ISP, contact your ISP). Also visit http://forums.redflagdeals.com/newegg-o ... #p27516736. Follow the steps, starting with step A.

Nothing beats a good firewall.

If you are actually dealing with with a telemarketer, you can click the upper left icon in the FPL desktop app and then select blacklist. Type in the number, click "add", and then click "close." However, doing that for SIP scanners won't solve your security issue; only a good firewall will.

In the future when posting, please specify the brand and model router you're using and whether you're using the FPL desktop app.

my bad I didn't know that FPL was anything else than a desktop app
you are talking about port forward on router, I am not using a router, im directly connected to the cable modem
by using the window firewall, can I just block the UDP port 5060?

It's a SIP service. You might want to click http://forums.redflagdeals.com/newegg-o ... x-2083622/ to learn how you can use it on a regular telephone using an ATA.

Are you positive you weren't issued a router/modem combo or gateway by your ISP? If you weren't then you're using internet services without a hardware NAT firewall, which is not desirable. On a related note, I would suggest reading the preamble (points #3,4, and 6 on pages 2 and 3) of the guide found at http://forum.fongo.com/viewtopic.php?f= ... 805#p74582.

Someone else is going to have to help you with Windows Firewall. I don't use it and hope to never rely on it. Consequently, I'm not going to bother learning it. The issue is though that if you permanently close the ports the FPL desktop app uses, you may not be able to use it. The FPL desktop app uses UDP ports 5060-5061 and UDP 13000-13001 (RTP ports). It might also use UDP 6060-6061.

You may want to check for open ports by visiting https://pentest-tools.com/network-vulne ... nline-nmap and https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?rh1dkyd2
Open ports are a security risk.
