Helping Canadians Get Freephoneline.ca in Mexico
Helping Canadians Get Freephoneline.ca in Mexico
I want to know if you can help on this....
I help Canadian and American Ex-Pats set up VoIP phone services in Mexico.
I discovered and tested freephoneline.ca some time ago. I really wanted to install it on my personal asterisk but seems I could never find a way to pay for the SIP Password with a US or Mexican Card. Well I found a hack and the account got cut off. It was very difficult for me to set this up from Mexico and did not want to start over. I abandoned it.
For Americans we are taking customers from MagicJack and Vonage to Google Voice by way of a Google Voice to SIP Gateway. We help many to port cell, Vonage and MagicJack numbers to Google Voice.
We lack a Canadian Solution and I would like to know if there is a way we can work together. I would like to be able to use our own SIP gateways, as getting them from Canada would increase the cost substantially. There are plenty of models available in Mexico. We would then need however to purchase the SIP Passwords. The problem with this is it takes "free" to "costly to start up".
Part of the problem also with freephoneline.ca is that the sign up process is very restrictive. As I recall you must sign up from a Canadian IP (not impossible) , and get a text to a Canadian Cell phone (not exactly convenient in Mexico) . How can we find a way to help these Canadians living in Mexico to use FreePhoneLine.ca?
We only make money on the configuration and installation and a small mark-up on SIP ATAs.

I suspect you would be better off contacting Fibernetics, Freephoneline's parent company, directly: http://www.fibernetics.ca/contact-us/.
Freephoneline's staff is not obliged to respond on forums.
You may also wish to refer to FPL's Terms of Service:

Acceptable Use Policy
The Customer may make use of the Services solely for his/her own personal, residential use. The Service is to be used for voice only purposes. The Customer may not resell or transfer the Service to any other person for any purpose, or charge any other person for the use of the Service.

While you are busy quoting TOS , I strongly suggest that you re-read the original post to which you replied. You apparently did not read, "We only make money on the configuration and installation and a small mark-up on SIP ATAs." . The thread is also title "HELPING Canadians get Freephoneline.ca in Mexico".
Also I never "obligated" Freephoneline to reply. I only thought they might.
I never said anything about reselling nor transferring accounts. Please stop clouding the thread with replies which clearly indicate you did not read the post. If you are not a Freephoneline employee responding or making a suggestion, then you have no business responding to this particular post.
Too many "experts" is exactly the problem with forums.

I read that perfectly fine.
Based on them replying to you before when you created other threads? FPL does not offer free technical support and are, consequently, not required to respond to anything in the Freephoneline customer support forums. Also I never "obligated" Freephoneline to reply. I only thought they might.
It's nice on the rare occasions when they do reply here, but posting here does not guarantee a response.
This is a user to user support forum. If you are not a Freephoneline employee responding or making a suggestion, then you have no business responding to this particular post.
Then one wonders why you bother posting in them instead of contacting businesses directly. Anyway, I will certainly not bother responding to you in the future.Too many "experts" is exactly the problem with forums.

It all started with "I want to know if you can help on this....", OP, and you got (frankly) more help than I would've given you. Lipton has been tirelessly helping out many users in this forum, including myself. Your attacks on him are entirely unwarranted; show some class and count your lucky stars you got a reply at all.

@markosjal
It's unlikely you will get anything like an official response here on this subject. As mentioned above this is mainly a user supported forum. Your best bet is contacting them directly though a support ticket. (https://support.fongo.com/hc/en-us/requests/new)
A thought on what you are trying to do. I assume you are trying to get people set up with a Canadian number so Canadians can call them and they can call others free or cheaply.
Why don't you suggest Fongo World to them? https://www.fongo.com/world/
It's set up just for the people you are trying to help and offers all the benefits of Fongo or FPL in regards to calling. They will also be able to receive text messages for free as an added bonus. It's just $5 and they install it on their mobile which would save them money as they won't have to buy an ATA. Now the only downside to you is you will not be making anything from the sale of the ATA, but it is a quick and easy app for them to get what you are trying to do.
Just a thought anyway.

thanks for the superfluous replies. You all bend over backwards to help where you were not asked
My inquiry STANDS DIRECTED WHERE I ORIGINALLY MADE IT.

good luck
BTW, you originally directed your question to a user based forum, which is actually where you are getting replies from. Did you think you had submitted a support ticket?
