So the FPL account I used last year was deleted due to inactivity - fair enough, I don't expect a free service to keep services turned on for inactive users. I only need the number during tax season, as I organize a free tax clinic for low income individuals and don't want to publish my cell number publicly to advertise this service. We create new pamphlets each year so it's not a huge deal if the phone number changes, but there may be some clients who saved the number in their phones and it would be nice to be able to reuse last year's number. So, here's my question:
The FAQ mentioned that by buying a $5 long-distance credit, I could have my account restored. But does that mean the same phone number is given back to me, or could a different number be assigned to the account when it reactivates?

Re: Recovering free phone number from a year ago
Yes, it would be the same phone number but only if it hasn't been assigned to someone else. After a year has passed I'm uncertain your chances would be good.
Perhaps calling your old phone number will help you determine whether it's been reassigned.
If it's not been reassigned, submit a ticket, and specify your old FPL number: https://support.fongo.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
Select "my account inquiry" for the final issue type.
