IP address 0.0.0.0

Postby frank29 » 04/23/2018

I have been using freephoneline services for many years and have been very satisfied with its services. Today, the line got disconnected. I tried resetting and following the guideline for the same. However when I press ****110#, it always gives the IP address as 0.0.0.0. I tried hard reboot, powering down and switching on, changing the Ethernet cable. But still the same issue. I am using Linksys SPA2102 phone adapter.

Please help.
Thanks,
frank29

1. Double check that the ethernet cable running to the back of one of the yellow ports (if you're not using your own router) on the Hitron CODA-4582U is seated firmly and that the other end of the ethernet cable is also seated firmly in the internet port on the back of your SPA2102. I know you said you changed the cable, but please also check that it's securely attached on both ends of the proper ports.

2. Proper device reboot order is always Modem-->Router (wait for it to be fully up and running)-->ATA

a. This is not related to hearing 0.0.0.0 for the IP of the ATA, but before rebooting your Hitron CODA-4582U (I'm guessing you're not using your own router), disable SIP ALG:
Open your web browser, and login at 192.168.0.1. Default username is cusadmin.
Select the “Basic” tab and disable “SIP ALG.” Click the “save changes” button.
Having SIP ALG enabled may cause problems with Freephoneline unless you're using voip4.freephoneline.ca:6060 for the proxy server in your ATA.
The purpose of voip4.freephoneline.ca:6060 is to circumvent faulty SIP ALG features in routers.

b. If you are using your own router, please let us know what brand and model it is and also ensure that your Rogers Hitron CODA-4582U modem/router combo (or gateway) is in bridge mode:
https://www.rogers.com/customer/support ... modem/cgn3 (the same instructions apply to your device). Do not enable bridge mode if you're not using your own router.

c. Afterwards, reboot your Modem (wait for it to be fully up and running)-->Router (wait for it to be fully up, passing data, and that Wi-Fi SSIDs are populated first)-->ATA
in that order. That's the proper device reboot sequence.

3. If your issue persists after rebooting the Hitron CODA-4582U (wait for it to be fully up and running first) followed by rebooting (your router, if you're using your own) your ATA, then please let us know what the light blink pattern is on your ATA. For reference, visit https://community.linksys.com/t5/VoIP-A ... true#M4152 and https://supportforums.cisco.com/t5/smal ... t-id=26821

4. a) If you're unable to access your ATA's web interface, you may need to enable WAN Access for the ATA. To do so, dial **** and enter 7932# after reaching the IVR. Dial 1 to enable.

b) For LAN access, you can try connecting your computer to the ethernet port of the SPA2102 temporarily.

By the way, there's a list of IVR codes you can use on page 2 here: https://vyvebroadband.com/wp-content/up ... -Guide.pdf
You could set a static IP, subnet mask, gateway IP address, etc., yourself. The gateway IP should be your router's LAN IP (probably 192.168.0.1 if your Hitron modem/router combo or gateway is not in bridge mode), and you should use the same LAN subnet that your router uses for LAN assignments via DHCP.

5. If you gain access to your ATA, visit https://forums.redflagdeals.com/freepho ... #p29185249. I would encourage you to do steps 1 to 3 from that post.

6. Your configuration PDF guide is located over here: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=16198.

If your ATA is malfunctioning (dying or needs to be replaced) or unable to obtain internet access, then it stands to reason the issue does not involve Freephoneline. Similarly, if your router is not assigning a LAN IP to your ATA, or if the ATA is unable to obtain a LAN IP from your router, that issue does not involve Freephoneline either. In turn, your Freephoneline service dropping would be a symptom and not a cause.

My old SPA ATAs are in a box somewhere that I can't locate at the moment, so other people may be able to troubleshoot your issue better than I can. If no one else ends up responding, you can
also try asking at http://www.dslreports.com/forum/voip.
