No ring and can not call out

Postby audreyhan » 03/15/2019

SP1 freephoneline.ca Account Registered shows on my Obitalk dashboard. I called the # I registered and provided by SP freephoneonlin.. There is no ring but heard: person you are trying to reach is not available, please leave your message. I also tried to call out but heard: the entry is not valid. Obitalk support team told me to check with freephoneline.ca team to see if any incoming/outgoing calls are being logged and see if there are any error results or issues.

Freephoneline does not provide free technical support for problems that are on your end, and they are not obligated to respond on these forums. So you can't check with Freephoneline's team for call logs. You can, however, do that yourself (step 6 below), and it's better to be checking your ATA's call logs (step 7) in addition to checking FPL's. Some people find that Obihai's technical support leaves much to be desired.

Go through the following steps in the order listed, and please provide information when asked.

1. What brand and model modem are you using?

2. What brand and model router are you using? Ensure SIP ALG is disabled in it.

If you're using a Hitron CGN3ACSMR and CODA-4582 series gateway modem/router combo from Rogers (and possibly other
ISPs), open your web browser, and login at 192.168.0.1. Default username is cusadmin.
Select the “Basic” tab, and disable “SIP ALG.” Click the “save changes” button.

3. What model Obihai device are you using?

a. If you're using an Obihai OBi200 or OBi202 ATA, setup your ATA properly by using the PDF guide fully: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=18805#p73839.
The PDF file is found at the bottom of the first post.
Using the default Freephoneline profile at Obitalk.com can lead to problems as specified on pages 5 to 6 of the PDF guide. Go through the PDF guide fully once, and get your ATA configured properly. It's worth the time, in particular because I suspect your Digitmap for Freephoneline is incorrect.

4.
a)Dial ***1. Enter the IP address you hear into a web browser.
b)Log into the ATA (default username and password are "admin" without quotation marks).
c)Navigate to Status-->System Status-->SP(FPL) Service Status

What does the registration status indicate?

5. Login at https://www.freephoneline.ca/showSipSettings

a. SIP Status should state "connected"
b. If SIP User Agent is something you don't recognize, you've been hacked.
c. You'll need to make note of your SIP Username and SIP Password that's listed after logging in at https://www.freephoneline.ca/showSipSettings when you're configuring your ATA (see step 3a. above).

6. You can check Freephoneline's call logs by logging in at https://www.freephoneline.ca/callLogs. Select the current month from the drop-down menu. Click "Submit."

7. You can check your ATA's call logs by
a) Dialing ***1. Enter the IP address you hear into a web browser.
b) Log into the ATA (default username and password are "admin" without quotation marks).
c) Navigate to Status-->Call History
Errors listed here may provide the most useful information for failed outbound calls.

8. Go through the steps listed on pages 42 to 44 of the PDF guide under the heading "Are you getting one way audio issues with an OBi200/202 and Freephoneline? Are incoming calls not ringing?
Can you not hear one side of the conversation (you can hear the caller, but the caller can't hear you or vice versa)?" viewtopic.php?f=15&t=18805#p73839
Please do not send me emails; I do not work for nor represent Freephoneline or Fongo. Post questions on the forums so that others may learn from responses or assist you. Thank you.
