freephoneline.ca is a spamming organization

Post by f-u-and-ur-spam »

When I signed up for "free" phone line, I used an email address that hadn't been used for anything else. Now I am getting spam at that address meaning you are either spamming me yourselves, or you sold my address to spammers.

I talk to a lot of people about getting away from rip-off-artist phone companies, and now I will be adding to those conversations a warning that this particular "option" is nothing but a total scam for harvesting email addresses for the purpose of spamming.

F**king scum.

Freephoneline.ca will never disclose your information to anyone outside of the company, as not only a courtesy to you our customers but also due to legal, ethical, and business reasons.

Any spam you might be encountering could be a result of anything. Unless it is a fresh, newly created email address which was only used to sign up here (and even then we're all subject to the Internet's general lack of security - It was built in the 60's after all, when everybody loved everybody) it is doubtfully the fault of freephoneline.ca. Personally, I have four or five freephoneline.ca accounts with multiple media partners and the only email from freephoneline.ca I've received is the signup and activation email, as well as one about our long distance vouchers.

Upon signup, you are automatically added to a list which we, and we alone control to send out special offers or marketing promotions which is perfectly legal as you're the one signing up for the service; and of course there is an option to unsubscribe at the bottom of the list.

I don't suppose a scam website would have a forum consisting of nearly 15k posts, and a service grossing 150,000 users.

On a side note, I appreciate you censoring your language.

Nah, you have picked up spam from elsewhere. FPL does not spam.

actually, freephoneline.ca is the only site which has been provided with this address, which was created specifically for this site to check whether you can be trusted not to spam. Go ahead and issue all the warnings you want. That you "warn" me for standing up against YOUR VIOLATION of MY RIGHT TO PRIVACY says even more about what a crappy organization this is. I will be reporting you to the RCMP's RECOL. Congratulations. Delete away. I do not require your forum to spread the word about your violations.

I was not warning you for your opinion, more the reactionary manor in which it was posted.

I do not believe any rational discussion could stem from this. I am locking this topic. The OP was looking for a reaction, not a solution, and he got it.
