Porting number from another VOIP

Post by Vertarioe »

Hello, I want to transfer a phone number from another voip service to freephoneline.

My parents got someone to transfer their number to a voip service many years ago, but they locked the ATA device with a password and they disappeared.
The device doesn't seem to be working properly for a while so I thought it was a good time to buy another device.
I'm also unsure if it was using a freephoneline account or not.
Is it possible to transfer the number? I don't see any option is in the number transfer menu in the store.

Not unless you know who the carrier for it is and own the number

There isn't a huge number of companies offering Canadian numbers to use with VOIP without a monthly subscription.

If you parents are paying a monthly fee, then they should know who their number is with.

If you parents are not paying a monthly fee, then there is a good chance they are with FreePhoneLine already.

Either way, submitting a support ticket to FPL using the link above is a good way to start. Give them the phone number and they should be able to tell you if they are with FPL or not. From there they might be able to help you, but showing that your parents are the rightful owners of the number might be a challenge if they don't have their email address registered with the account or someone else set the account up for them.
