Re: Porting Ident-A-Call Number
The only things that Freephoneline asked for, to port my number from Bell Canada to Freephoneline, were: - my name - my address - my phone number Freephoneline did not verify my identity. Bell did not ask for my permission. It's easy to get the above 3 pieces of data about other people. It would see...

Jake:
Thanks! You were right. I removed the number and now it works.
Does anyone have any suggestions about my fax problem that I posted previously above, on 01/13/2015?

Re: Porting Ident-A-Call Number
I found that that the answer is yes to my previous posting.
However, Bell Canada did not even contact me to get my permission for porting out the number.
If somebody tries to port my number (at Freephoneline) away from me, will Freephoneline contact me first and get my permission?

Re: Best 2 and 3 line ATA
As mentioned, I bought a OBihai 202 and set it up with a SIP number from Freephoneline (Number A). (Number A was my Bell Canada number that I transferred to Freephoneline and then bought the SIP Unlock Key.) I transferred a second number (Number B) from Bell Canada to Freephoneline. I do not want to...

Re: Best 2 and 3 line ATA
The best are Obihai devices. Thanks for the suggestion. I bought a Ohihai 202 from AcroVoice and successfully set it up with Google Voice and a freephoneline number. (The delivery experience from AcroVoice was excellent.) I tried to send a fax out on the freephoneline number but it does not work. I...

Porting Ident-A-Call Number
I have a Bell Canada landline with two phone numbers. The line is registered/assigned to the first number. The second number is a Ident-A-Call number, that rings on the same line. Am I correct to assume that I can port just the Ident-A-Call number to Freephoneline.ca (and leave the first number and ...

Re: In case of bankruptcy
What happens if I move out of the country? My phone number is registered to me at a Canadian address. Let's say that while I am living out of the country and Freephoneline goes bankrupt or ceases operation, then we will need to port the number to another carrier. Will the new carrier let me keep the...

Re: Internet/SIP/digital phone instead of ATA?
Thanks for your inputs.
I tried to find out if the Grandstream phone supports Google Voice, but I don't think it does. Does anyone know of a VoIP phone that supports Google Voice?
Does anyone know how the voice quality compares between POTS versus ATA versus VoIP phone?

Moving to another country
Let's say I have ported my landline number from Bell to Freephoneline and everything is working great in Canada. Let's say I moved to another country. Am I correct to assume that I can continue using FPL's service (provided that the country does not block VoIP) without any changes? (I will be able t...

Re: Internet/SIP/digital phone instead of ATA?
Jake: Thanks for your reply and your suggestions. That's a good suggestion about the fax. With a VoIP phone, such as the Grandstream GXP2130, am I correct to assume that I connect my internet (ethernet) to the VoIP phone and will not require any other hardware or software? With Freephoneline.ca's Un...

Internet/SIP/digital phone instead of ATA?
I have four phone numbers on two analog lines: Number A - business Number B - fax (Ident-A-Call number on Number A) Number C - personal Number D - spouse (Ident-A-Call number on Number C) I would like to convert these to VoIP. I've asked for suggestions for the best ATA at: http://forum.fongo.com/vi...

Re: POTS to Dryloop & number to FPL
Wow, that sounds really easy.
If my internet service does stop, I guess I should contact Bell at that point and ask them to put in the Dry Loop? (I'm concerned about the number of days that I can lose access to internet.)

Re: Best 2 and 3 line ATA
If you are wanting to juggle that many numbers, I would suggest looking into a PBX (they are not as scary as you may think). You can run them on may things, like old computer that you may have in the basement, or I have mine running on a Raspberry PI (cost around $35 I think). From there you can ma...

Re: Best 2 and 3 line ATA
I do not know of any 3 line ATA devices, certainly nothing under $100, but there are a lot of 2 line ata devices. The best are Obihai devices. The Obihai 200 has one line, the Obihai 202 has 2 lines, (could be the reverse, I forget) so get both and you got 3 lines. Each device can handle 4 VOIP pro...

Best 2 and 3 line ATA
I currently have 3 phone numbers. I'd like to port them all to FPL eventually. I'm contemplating of doing one of the following scenarios: Buy 3 Unlock keys Buy an ATA that supports 3 different phone numbers with 3 analog phone jacks. Buy 3 Unlock keys Buy an ATA that supports 3 different phone numbe...

Re: Sound problems on Desktop app for Mac
I'd like to delete this posting if possible, as I got the new desktop application to work. When I launch the application, it prompts me to choose an "Available host". The drop-down has 3 IP addresses. I chose the IP address for my Mac, which is the last one on the list, and it worked. (I d...

Re: POTS to Dryloop & number to FPL
I have a similar situation to OP, but not exactly the same. I have Bell DSL internet and Bell phone number on same line. I'd like to port the phone number to FPL, but not change nor lose Bell DSL. If I read the above comments correctly, it sounds like I should do the following: 1. Call FPL to port t...

In case of bankruptcy
We love the free service that FPL provides and users probably try to support them by buying the long distance credits. But what happens to our phone numbers (that we ported over to FPL) if they go bankrupt? Do we lose our phone number or can we get them transferred back to Bell Canada?

Sound problems on Desktop app for Mac
I know that there have been a lot of postings already about the lack of sound. However, I couldn't find any postings where the problem happens on a Mac. I installed the Freephoneline desktop app a few years ago initially. It worked successfully, but I haven't used it since then. Now, I tried it and ...
