Re: Always get a busy line on outgoing calls

Here's mine, from a Linksys PAP2 (should work the same as SPA devices) (*xxS0|[3456789]11S0|0|00|[2-9]xxxxxxxxxS0|1xxx[2-9]xxxxxxS0|xxxxxxxxxxxx.) It includes a few tweaks, such as immediate-dial for recognized 10 digits phone numbers and 11 digits long distance onces. There's also x11 numbers in ca...

I like my Linksys WRT54GL with firmware Tomato on it, but there's many more choices, especially if you want 'N' wireless.

Hm, you seem to not be the only one to experience this "Can't connect to login server" message. See here http://forum.freephoneline.ca/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=2176 and here http://forum.freephoneline.ca/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=2189 As these threads seem to be about the same problem as you,...

Re: cannot make calls or recieve them

I think you will need to access your Linksys PAP's web admin page and go see the error displayed on the first page, around "Line 1 status" as the first indication of the problem. We'll go from there. Perhaps the device lost the configuration and you need to put it again? (username, passwor...

Re: Account Options for unreliable Internet connection users

How unreliable? Perhaps you could try to lower the value of register expiration to try and force the ATA to more frequently re-register? Just an idea.

Re: Speedtouch 780wl and receiveing calls changes clock time

When you say "Weird time" is it like, as if it were from another timezone (similar minutes) or completely random? Does it seem to always go back to some value? Jake might be right in the sense that if your new ATA is improperly set, it could try to override your phone's clocks from time to...

Re: [Resolved 8/1/10] 5 - 90 Min into the call and drops out

You seem to be technically inclined, so I would suggest you use the Wireshark capture and analysis tool to record the traffic between your ATA or WiFi phone and your modem, up to the point where it stops working. There's an integrated SIP filter analysis in Wireshark, so applying that filter could g...

Re: Modem / Router problem

Two ideas: 1) Check if maybe there's an upgrade to the firmware in your Thomson unit. Maybe they fixed this already? 2) Contact their support. Afterall, it's the Thomson device having a hard time moving data across two of its ports. Perhaps they have better ways to diagnose this than us... One thing...

Re: [Resolved 8/1/10] 5 - 90 Min into the call and drops out

Why are you criticizing my post for being irrelevant to your problem, yet you spend two whole paragraphs discussing about the good old days of terminating resistors and various levels of rebranding? If all you want is to discuss your dropped calls, by all means, stop talking about everything else. M...

Re: [Resolved 8/1/10] 5 - 90 Min into the call and drops out

I'll admit that Bell are being jerks at confusing the consumers with names sounding similar to high-tech stuff. "Fibe" ? That's awful. What are they going to do when they actually bring fibre? (I exclude Optimax as it's more of a trial than anything else). It's like the LED TVs you see. Th...

Re: Modem / Router problem

Are you using the built-in ATA of the Thomson device for your Freephoneline? The pause/stutter, I assume it's on phone calls, not the music/video that pauses/stutters?

Re: [Resolved 8/1/10] 5 - 90 Min into the call and drops out

There seems to be some confusion. We were diverging briefly the thread to discuss about internet provider technologies and their pitfalls when it comes to the last mile. It is, in no way, relevant to your issue of dropped calls. And no, not all players plan properly for the future. Some of them inev...

Re: [Resolved 8/1/10] 5 - 90 Min into the call and drops out

This having been said, I am on BELL. There is only one subscriber per connection, and it all goes into huuuuuge routers at the CO that don't have the slightest congestion issue. That is completely wrong. All DSL lines that aren't connected directly into an alternate ISP's DSLAM equipment is going t...

Re: Phone line has loud static noise

The first thing that comes to mind is to try another phone. If your ATA is wired to your house's internal phone wiring, try to remove that and plug the phone directly in the device, to test it. There's a few additional theories: 1. It's possible (small probability) that your ATA was damaged through ...

Re: Can't connect to login server

Your second line that you mention works well, is it connected to Freephoneline as well, or another provider? If another provider, what is it, and which port is it using to reach your ATA? Your ping statistics are interesting. First, three packets dropped out of only eight sent is not good news at al...

Re: problem with my internet

The first thing to do when suspecting intermittent DSL is to request a line test. Every ISP can either do it live, or order it to the company the supplies them the DSL resale. This test will look into your line quality, but most importantly the signal-to-noise ratios of your line. Most physical line...

Re: Modem / Router problem

Does the source of music/video played come from the internet? If so, then your problem is most likely a Quality Of Service adjustments. You need to tell your router to prioritize voice traffic over music/videos/everything else so that it can guarantee an uninterrupted stream of data to your softphon...

Everyone's telling me different stories on what ports to forward, the list just keeps on growing. Not just this thread/forum but others too, even after I tell them I'm not involved with softphone whatsoever. The official FAQ of FreePhoneLine explicitly lists 6 ports to forward to ensure that all Fr...

Let's not celebrate too early. The CRTC said they would review the decision, not revert it. Minister Clement said he would reverts the decision to something that is "adequate", not necessarily remove the UBB altogether. PM Harper said his government would review it, not necessarily act upo...

It sounds like the port is blocked, preventing some of the data to go through. What is your ISP, and what kind of internet connection do you use?
