Bluetooth devices

I think it may be necessary for the developers to take a look at the APIs they use to integrate Bluetooth audio devices into the app. I recently purchased Pixel buds Bluetooth headphones on a pixel phone and while all other apps that might use them correctly identify that they are connected and rout...

Re: Whatsapp!

I'm 99% certain Whatsapp allows you to verify with a phone call which WILL work with Fongo. I've never not been able to receive a call because of using Fongo, only certain circumstances (usually shortcodes) with SMS.

Re: Do not disturb during call

Yup! I'm not sure if it was an Android change or a Fongo app change, but I now only hear a quiet "bing" in my ear when other notifications come in rather than the vibration and loudspeaker notification sound. I had seen that option in the settings menu in the past too but didn't seem to do...

Has anyone tried this? Run into any issues with the fact that your phone and the desktop emulated app would be logged into your account at the same time?

Love this!

Just want to say that I love this - hopefully the prices can come down a little bit, but this is such a perfect match with the Fongo mobile app. It's what I've been doing for years, and would switch if it was price competitive with the tablet data options out there.

This is now fixed, go an update through the Play Store! If you were holding off for the Android 10 upgrade, go for it!

Re: Text message font needs to be bigger

font size can be configured in android system settings as a global setting Yes, but I think the suggestions (or at least my +1 on this topic) refers to the suggestion that the text at any OS font size level should be relatively larger. The text feels small for the font size setting I have in the OS...

Re: Android Q

Fongo support has acknowledged the issue, and has apparently produced an update to fix it yet, but I haven't been able to pull an update off the Play store yet. Fingers crossed!

Android Q

Incoming calls do not work on Android Q unless Fongo is the in focus app on your screen at the moment the incoming call comes in. Tried with Alarm notification method and still no luck!

More timely voicemail delivery

One of my main pet peeves with the voicemail system on Fongo is that it can sometimes take quite some time after actually receiving a voicemail for the notification to be shown on my phone, and the recording available to play within visual voicemail. Could this not be sent to the app via a push noti...

Re: Sync messages and call log between devics

As a slight modification to this post, I would suggest that the app enable back up of settings and messages to any connected storage account like Google Drive as apps like WhatsApp allow you to do. I don't like losing all of my settings and messages if I need to reinstall my app at some point or if ...

Do not disturb during call

I really wish the app on Android would turn on the do not disturb function while engaged in a Fongo call. There's nothing more annoying than notification sounds and vibrations while you have the handset pressed right up to your ear. I'm certain the Android API has a hook available for applications t...

Desktop sms interface

It would be nice (especially since Fongo SMS is over the internet) if we could access our Fongo app on mobile through a Desktop interface extension much in the same way that apps like Whatsapp or Signal allow you to message with your phone's app as a proxy.

Visual voicemail receipt delay

Are other users experiencing a delay when someone leaves a voicemail on your Fongo mobile line? I find it typically takes anywhere between 5-15 minutes after the message is left before I receive a mobile notification, and have access to listen through the visual voicemail feature. If I call the voic...

Yes I've desperately wanted this myself. Love the service just not the app. You could go the voip unlock freephoneline route, but you won't have access to any SMS functionality.

Re: Two fongo numbers using same phone jack with splitter

Some devices support multiple simultaneous VoIP accounts being connected like Linksys PAP2T. If you connect two separate Free Phone Line accounts to this device, then connect line 1 and 2 jacks from the ATA into your home phone network using a splitter-like device that splits the two lines in standa...

Re: Fongo android API?

Would love to have an API available. Option to use other softphone clients on Android would be great, especially if SIP-Simple could also be attached to the SMS functionality. From what I understand of Fongo's business model, revenue primarily comes from paid calling features like SMS and calling cr...

Re: Fongo prompt / automatically re-dial call on bad wifi

Bumping this thread, but with the slightly updated understanding that it appears with other SIP/calling apps they do handle the transition from WiFi to Cellular and vice versa quite well without even dropping the call, so the original suggestion in this thread may be the less-preferred option if an ...

Re: Feature Request

Good suggestion! This is actually one of the few things I miss from my previous native sms app use. I had an additional app that would automatically copy all sms ever sent to my gmail account. Since the Fongo messages aren't regarded by the operating system as true SMS messages, it no longer works u...

Re: Hard to get data only from providers now.

The way I see it, the Fido 3GB/$15 is the best option on the market (all things considered, including coverage and network quality necessary for a stable Fongo experience). If that went away or isn't an option where you are, the Bell/Virgin tablet data plan is the next best bet.

Re: Using Fongo with European SIM

Just got back from a week-long trip to Mexico City and used the KnowRoaming sim card I have to buy a week's worth of LTE data while I was down there. Worked like a charm, and much better than any former roaming experience I had on pure carrier roaming. The LTE data was fast, and all of my calls back...

Re: World Credit Pricing

If i'm correct, although in-app the word credits are $5.49 for $5.00, when buying on the online store (assuming it has been unlocked for your account), it's $5 for $5. My guess is that this is down to the service charges that are collected via the google play store that are involved for any purchase...
