Re: cannot receive calls after porting in the number
Support is frustrating now.... ... what support? It is getting to be a running joke at this point, with the refusals, referrals and outright HANG UPS. They are a step away from "just go ahead and shut down the number" ... !!! I mean, at least they could just dump the poor user into an end...

Re: New Area Codes (MB-431)
As per the CNAC page, you can expect to see the full range active on/after Nov. 3 2012. The test numbers have likely been used by our engineers to confirm routing to the new exchange, but the time and effort required to setup the system to expose these numbers for public dialling is likely not wort...

If you have a newer issue NPA-NXX number from DV, it may not be properly loaded into the switch at the CALLERS provider. Can someone els...

Re: Can't Receive Calls From Petrolia
You are correct Jake -- as they are the customers of that phone co, and they are unable to complete their calls correctly to a valid number which is inservice and IS reachable from other carriers, if the CALLERS got a trouble ticket issued, that SHOULD help narrow it down. As I say, this is the crap...

We have another thread going, where "Cannot receive calls from Petrolia (http://forum.fongo.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=6626)" where we have narrowed down that the port from Cogeco->FPL seems to have resulted in calls from a certain Cogeco ratecentre are are still being routed to the "...

Re: Can't Receive Calls From Petrolia
GuitarMan: thanks for reporting back, sorry that I was right, but as I say, I have helped a friend right down this road before ... once you leave them, they don't give a flap, even if they totally screw-the-pooch on the port. You got lucky in that your 2nd call actually got someone who took the time...

Re: Can't Receive Calls From Petrolia
When you port a number with Fongo, you receive an email confirming the porting process has been completed. Best suggestion i can make is to respond to that email explaining issue with the porting being completed and describing the issue. Without quoting the forums, i would suggest explaining what y...

Re: Cannot dial Australia or China
What specifically is happening? Do you get an error message, or is the call simply timing out, or what is happening? Are you using your iPhone and the DV app, or a 3rd party app, or the computer softphone? Does your call log show any of the calls that did not complete, with possibly some kind of a f...

Re: Dell Voice and getting a SIP unlock key?
The branding agreement that Fongo has with Dell ... that is why they had to pull the unlock key, as Dell modified their sponsorship/branding, as having an unlock key means that you can use whatever device you want, and therefore they cannot PUSH their ads to you and get the return for their money th...

Re: Can't Receive Calls From Petrolia
Please keep in mind, once a number is ported out to another company, the original provider is supposed to remove all information (including the number) from it's own system. As an example, if someone were to port out of Fongo, and Fongo did not remove the information from it's network, then all Fon...

Re: Can't Receive Calls From Petrolia
If people calling that number still reach your previous provider, then it is indeed you that would need to contact them as they are still routing calls to your former service with them. As the account was not in our name, we are not permitted to contact them in regards to the service you were recei...

Even if calling in and speaking to an agent, they are unable to pick and choose the numbers being assigned. Good to know ... Do L3's have "magical powers"? ;-) *abra cadabra*...poof....nope, was a dud. Sorry, no magic :( We do occaisionally work some miracles, but no magic. lol Well, some...

Re: Can't Receive Calls From Petrolia
Once the number is taken by the receiving carrier, the originating provider needs to remove the number from their system. As it is a digital line that Shaw offers, they need to remove it in order to stop routing calls. Yes, that is correct --- however, as the end user is now NO LONGER a Shaw custom...

Re: I don't receive missed calls when I turn on airplane mod
The whole debate about cell signals and stuff disrupting aircraft electronics has been a bone of contention for a long time. How much affect it has, as you say, is debatable. It has been a long time since I have been airborne, but I know that things are always evolving! :-) Then again, back at the t...

Re: Porting a number *out* of Dell Voice
Is it possible to port a number out of the Dell Voice service or are numbers "trapped" and non-portable? I've been pondering moving a number over but if you can't port a number out it's a non-starter for me. Mike answered, but search the forum also -- some providers have restrictions on w...

Confusion over Airplane Mode

Re: I don't receive missed calls when I turn on airplane mod
I honestly have no idea to the answer to this question, but does a normal cell phone show what calls were missed if, say, you ave your phone turned off or no signal? I know mine never used to, and now making phone calls is probably the last thing my smartphone is used for now so I am not sure if it...

Re: Can't Receive Calls From Petrolia
In a perfect world, the porting procedure is the responsibility of the RECEIVING carrier (in your case FPL). They put in the request to your DONATING (old-Cogeco) carrier. Now, as bound by Canadian Telcom regs (I don't have time to look up and quote) the DONATING carrier is responsible to undertake ...

Re: Problem with incoming calls
This seems to be a major issue (apparently not a problem tho!). Incoming calls should NEVER be missed -- either they should go thru and ring correctly, or terminate in voicemail, but I too have experienced MULTIPLE calls ending in a BUSY signal and not completing one way or another. Although there i...

Re: Cities/Ratecentres for DID expansion
I notice new expansion throughout Quebec, and can only hope that similar will occur in the West. If they want to target people for porting in and selecting home phone service, the DID coverage will have to greatly increase!! And unless the policy on purchasing DIDs from other providers changes, they...
