Re: FreephoneLine Voicemail issues

Have you tried listening to the messages online through your admin? This would tell you if the message was in fact recorded in full and for some reason when you played it back through your phone it didn't play completely. From my own observations, I was able to play the message in full when dialing...

FreephoneLine Voicemail issues

Hey folks, I've been using the FreePhoneLine service (with the buy-your-own-ATA and get a VOIP unlock key route) for a year now. I've also ported my telephone number from my childhood days into that service as well. I use the Cisco SPA122 VOIP ATA with the following details: Model: SPA122, LAN, 2 FX...

Re: Freephoneline - $79.95* - things you need to know

A few weeks ago, I bought the Cisco SPA122 voip ATA at my local Canada Computers store. Next, I bought the VOIP unlock key for my FreePhoneLine just to test out with the device. Although the initial configuration was easy, I only had minor problems (but not too serious) on configuring the service. I...

Re: "preferred" dial plan for the FPL phone service

Stay away from Cisco VOIP gear, it is old, ill tempered dreck. (works fine when configured properly, but getting there is a beast!) Grandstream is OK, But, you should put your money into Obi gear. Newegg usually sells it for a decent price. The Obi device supposedly also supports Blind Call Transfe...

"preferred" dial plan for the FPL phone service

Hey folks, I'm planning to get my own ATA (Analog Telephone Adapter) complete with a VoIP unlock key in the future and I wanted to know - what is the "preferred" dial plan for the FPL (FreePhoneLine) service? As I live in Ontario, I wanted to access the Ontario 511 Road Information service...

Does Freephoneline offer "attended/blind transfer"?

I was wondering if the Freephoneline service offer an "ability" to transfer a call to another caller in progress? I already know that I can easily set up "conference calling" (or three-way calling) using *71 (using a residential phone service like Rogers, Bell, Telus, Cogeco, Vid...

Re: recommended network setup for VOIP (such as freephonelin

Thanks for your suggestions, y'all. I also wanted to know about something about the "Dial Plan". If I wanted to configure 511, 411, 311 or 211 services - which particular dial plan I must use if I were to get a Grandstream or Cisco/Linksys VOIP ATA? IIRC, the province of Ontario has a 511 ...

Re: recommended network setup for VOIP (such as freephonelin

All I can really go on is with my PAP2T. I didn't do anything special to make it fax, apart from keeping the fax simple. There has been quite a few threads about faxing in the past. Many have mentioned turning the ECM off, but I can't remember doing so. I think it is one of those things where it mi...

Re: recommended network setup for VOIP (such as freephonelin

Modem->router->ATA. If the ATA has a built in router don't use it. I would also suggest getting a router that can be flashed with DD-WRT to give you other outs should you need it. If you want to fax, look for an ATA that supports T38 and set the fax to transmit as slow as possible. I send faxes wit...

Other than that, perhaps the new router will play nicer with the rest of your network and the various apps you are running ... ?? ...

The default firmware of the WRT54G is so awful, that an alternate firmware, DDWRT was made by volunteers to replace it. It is vastly superior to what you got now, and I strongly recommend you replace it. Your one way auid issues are most likely to disapear because of it, or at the very least, you c...
