Re: Hard to get data only from providers now.
Thanks for the replies. I will try a few Fido kiosks to see if they will bite. I am currently a Fido customer for data only so it might work to try and get a second sim with same data only deal. There are several threads on RFD that discuss Fido's 3GB for $15 data-only plan. They're lengthy and rep...

Re: can we have pay per use SMS
I echo this suggestion. It doesn't make much sense to pay $2.79 per month to send a couple of texts. Any progress on this since the original post? Suggestion: Use the customer's "World credits" balance to pay for a per-text charge when there's no texting subscription in effect for the acco...

Account deactivation after prolonged inactivity
Some softphone vendors will deactivate an account, losing the phone number and possibly credits, if an account doesn't make any calls or send any texts for some prolonged period. Does Fongo do this and if so what must a customer do to avoid this? The closest answer I could find on this subject is in...

Re: Data only service providers for cell phones
Currently, til the end of the month, Fido sells a tablet plan for $15 for 1GB, $25 for 3GB, $35 for 5GB, and $10 a GB overage after that. There is a pretty good thread on it here http://forums.redflagdeals.com/fido-1-gb-data-15-per-month-5-gb-35-10-gb-overage-1918361/ This offer has been extended. ...

Re: Download android app outside of Canada
Is it possible to get the install file outside of the store? No need to if you have a rooted phone. Install Market Unlocker , tell it to tell Google Play that you're in Canada and you're good to play. This also lets you get US-only or other country-restricted apps from Google Play. Alternatively, j...

Re: Can't call local 310-XXXX number?
Try "310*" in Search. The "*" is a wild card so you'll also match anything that starts with "310." That's mostly "3102" as in "Linksys SPA 3102", but you'll also find some stuff with "310." While it's not perfect it works most of the time. ...

Re: Installing Android App on a overseas phone
There's no need for anyone to e-mail anything. See this thread: Using Dell Voice overseas
Also I've been able to download apps from Google Play that are country restricted (to Europe in my case) using this app: Market Unlocker - Android Apps on Google Play. (However it requires Root permission.)

Re: Using Dell Voice overseas
For people who are concerned about losing their DV/Fongo app while travelling outside Canada or who want to help someone outside of Canada who can't download the app off Google Play (Android Market): 1. install Titanium Backup on your phone 2. run a backup of at least the Dell Voice app 2. go to the...

Re: Using Dell Voice overseas
it will be very risky for me to base all my personal and business contacts on this DV phone number, seeing as the app is unavailable I don't think so. If you can download the app in Canada but run it worldwide as others have stated then there's nothing inherent in the app that will prevent you from...

Re: Using Dell Voice overseas
There are some known places overseas that limit traffic on certain ports. I do not know if it is nationwide or what, but there are always work-arounds for that as well. There are some national carriers that restrict VoIP on their cell network. I believe that none of the NA and EU ones still do this...

Re: What does use Dell Voice 90-days mean?
So basically set up a reminder on your calendar system, repeating every ~12 weeks, to call yourself on DV/Fongo ;) I wonder if there's a way to make Google Voice or similar, triggered by Google Calendar or similar, place a canned call so that no human intervention is required — you know, something a...

Re: Pay to remove ads
Would it be possible to have a paid version of the iPhone app, or have an in-app purchase to remove the ads? Re: SpeakOut and PetCanMob "UMB" users open letter to Fongo
You are basically asking dv/fongo to argue on your behalf to another phone company,, speakout/petrocan/ that you are paying to much, and( you want a workaround). How so? I'm merely asking DV/Fongo to look into ways of circumventing blocks that some carriers put on VoIP, including on users of their r...

There isn't one. They've just made the hardwired mic gain level comparable to what it is with other VoIP apps.adminsly wrote:where is this setting ?
