Re: need to know info relating to activation n etc

What is the IP address of the computer you are using? You can NOT forward SAME ports to TWO different destinations! Connect the computer directly to your rogers modem, get the PUBLIC IP address and try FPL. If it works, it's your router. I have FPL softphone working fine behind DOUBLE NAT. No port f...

Re: Local Services 811 and 311

What about 310 toll free numbers? I.e. 310-BELL? They seem to work sometimes when you add the area code but not all the time. I guess it depends how the call is routed at that particular time.

Re: Record Incoming & Outgoing Calls

How did I forget that.. Yes, it is also illegal to record a call without informing both parties involved. We won't be able to provide this feature because of this reason (I completely forgot that in my previous post) Actually it's legal to record a call in Canada if only ONE party knows it's being ...

I think it is. Because I have 2 FPL accounts. One of them shows caller's number on forwarded calls and the other one shows FPL number??? Interesting...huh?

Re: Configure ATA

You could also connect it to your laptop and enable ICS on the wireless connection.

Re: Call quality question..

it's possible that rogers is filtering your connection due to P2P even when you're not using it. Some VOIP packets get caught in the process.

Re: Call quality question..

Are you using any P2P file sharing programs?
I had problems with VOIP when I was on rogers, they suck.

Re: faxing

Faxing works fine if you are not sending too many pages. If you are, you may get an error.
Using default settings on PAP2 v1 & fax machine.
Don't think FPL supports T.38, just use G711 and you'll be fine.
Also don't use your internet for anything else while faxing.

You can reduce the decode latency by using G711 codec (assuming you're using G729 now).

Re: Be sure 911 is Supported To Your VOIP

Are the 911 calls routed to my local 911 dispatch center or to a "national call center" first?

Re: Outside Canada

We don't block anything :) However, we do not provide any support for out of country use. So if you're in another country and it doesn't work then we are unable to help. Keep in mind some countries across the world will block IPs/Ports and filter their internet data pretty strictly. I know people h...

911 Address update

From FAQ: In order to be able to use the 911 dialing services in cases of emergency you must be registered as a certified user. A certified user means freephoneline.ca can and will be able to verify that all registration information is correct and up-to-date at any given time. As a result the 911 di...
