Re: Good News
Gotta love that. Fongo reps will respond to a "Good News" forum post, but not a peep out of *any* Fongo rep to all of the people asking about the outages this week. What a joke. I'm glad I can trouble shoot my own problems and don't have to rely on the forum for support. We have already i...

There's a few other voicemail FAQs that might be useful at the link below (such as remote access ability too).

Re: Ongoing FPL issue
Hi Zoro,
Have you submitted a ticket with your details to the support team? Although they're a little backed up as we move to a new support system, the team is working hard to get caught up.

Re: Where do I get the form ?
When you call into our offices to purchase number porting then they will provide all necessary paperwork :) Does freephoneline still have a CS ? I wanted to know what fax number I should use to send my port in request and found out I no longer call CS. Then I did email asking for the same info and ...

Re: What is autoplay?
Thanks belo, interesting. But actually I think the "autoplay" option is on the fongo side, not the ATA side. Here's what I've found by trial & error: "autoplay" seems to mean that any voicemail you have waiting plays automatically as soon as you phone in to check messages. O...

Re: Java-Compromised-Again?
The user would have to visit one of the infected websites in order for their Java to be exploited and someone to gain control of the PC. A lot of the websites are recommending that users complete disable or remove Java until the bug is fixed, and if Java is removed or disabled then any Java apps, su...

Re: cant receive calls from the PSTN using g.729 codec
Right now all the calls between Fongo and the end user are g711, with the exception of the mobile apps which are using a different codec.
I'll certainly pass along your request to see if in the future this can be changed to allow for the use of more codecs.

Re: other network dial 1 to make local calls to fongo
As mentioned before, if you can provide your neighbours first 6 numbers then I (or others) can try and tell you if it should be local to them or not. If you still feel this is Fongo's fault, then I can only suggest you PM Fongo_mike with a link to this thread, or call into a CSR and ask them to loo...

Hi Steve, Did you have a chance to test my SIP account? FYI, The SIP DID that I'm using is my home phone number, I'm not receiving phone calls nor been able to make outbound calls since 23/12/2012; Per the FONGO_Announcements dated Jan 3rd 2013 there was an issue with freephoneline SIP server? I've...

Re: Lynksys SPA-2002 keeps loosing registration to Freephone
Thank you for your reply , but in this case I think there is an issue with my freephoneline account rather that ATA configuration as my sip traces shows no registration confirmation (SIP message 401 unauthorized); The 401 error you're seeing is likely part of the WWW-Authenticate challenge and resp...

The Dell relationship is still alive and well. If you'll notice when you log into the app there's still branding in various places and some Dell ads in rotation as well.

Re: Your Phone/ATA Not working, check this first
I'm going to advise against option #1 as putting the ATA in the DMZ exposes the entire device, including the web GUI access ports, to external access. This would make it quite easy for a device to become compromised and thus a hacker could gain access to one's device or account.

Re: Is Port Mapping Req'd When Connected Directly to ISP Mod
You'd only need to use port forwarding if you're having problems (usually caused by poorly designed routers/router firmware not knowing how to handle SIP/VOIP properly).
If you've plugged it in and it works perfectly, then nothing needed! In most scenarios it's plug and play just like that.

Hi arkaf, I've done my best to answer your questions below: 1. I understood that this service is free to make calls within certain areas in Canada. Re: How to change the voice mail to email compression...
At this time we don't support any changes to the bit rate of the voicemail encoding (they're kept fairly small as to not consume abundant amounts of data for those receiving them on smartphones). I'll certainly pass the suggestion along for you though!

Re: Outgoing Call Display doesn't work to US numbers
Does the person receiving the call see your number, and just 'private name' as the name, or nothing at all? Once the call leaves our network and is handed over to the carrier in the USA, it's difficult to say what they could be doing with it. I don't mind looking at some call logs on our end just to...

Re: thinking of purchasing Fongo home phone service
What speeds do you get on your high speed internet?
As long as the speed is sufficient to support the digital home phone along with your regular internet usage then you should have crystal clear quality! Personally, I find the quality to be superior to that of an analog telephone line.
